Kudos to Harry over at Warseer Shad0w_Reaper October 6th, 2008, 10:05 Has there been any solid news about a new space wolf codex? Itll be good to see the IG get some loving. Sad about Dark eldar being left till the end of the year though. Im sure theres many people waiting for that one.

SW seems to be in early stages so could be 6 - 18 months. Latest rumour i saw was this guy, burtnernie from warseer, claiming to have heard P. Kelly talk about it at GD:
Well I was standing at the desk with the Warhammer Chaos information on the boards behind as well as the new army book on the table, hoping around from one foot to the other trying to glimpse the warhammer book, whilst digesting the new SM Codex at the same time.
This was around the time when the statues were being handed out, a young lad approached Phil Kelly for a sig and asked about the Wolves.
Phil Kelly said he would be doing them himself, they will not be following (and quote) that "ancient and dusty book" (the codex) and will be more the stand aside chapter that "follow their heart, are honour bound and loyal" ... he said that he was working on them at the early stages now...
When I askeed about the potential release he said, well it's early days, and it can take up to 6 months before they are ready to go, (quote) But I will be talking about them ALOT at next years GD (end quote) ... I said so end of next year and he said, "pretty much"
So I had to ask the burning question "will you be re doing the characters and models" and he said "Yes, definately" but he would not confirm which and tbh I did not push him...
I spoke with him on this and this is 1st hand information, I'm excited because added that the models "will blow your mind away".... At least the DE players are already accustomed to waiting, so it's not quite so cruel. Still, delays suck regardless of context... GW has been making quite a bit of noise about taking the time to do this one right, so here's hoping that the new DE are worth the wait when they arrive. We know they can do great work if they put their minds to it!
And a question: Anybody hear anything about new Marine stuff coming out? Like the Ironclad Dread and hopefully a Razorback with all the weapons options?? The_Outsider October 6th, 2008, 11:10 As far as DE are concerned it has gotten to the point that the delay doesn't matter, it is more about getting them done right. In a way it disheartens me that GW have done a good job of clamping down on leaks, I would have a bit more faith in "next year" if we had some leaked stuff to provide support to this claim. Tsele October 6th, 2008, 11:27 As far as the SW Codex rumors I have heard say in December 08 or January 09... And for the models I saw one or two of the new Wolves some time back in BoLS...
Too bad for DE players... they have to wait another year! Cyric the Mad October 6th, 2008, 19:40 FEBRUARY:

Now that would definitely make me start a LM army. That's just cool. micah October 6th, 2008, 19:42 Now that would definitely make me start a LM army. That's just cool.
hell yeah Splata October 7th, 2008, 01:32 As a DE player I have to admit I'm getting sick of the wait and am about to hang up my raiders.
Codex creep seems to be getting closer and closer to unbearable for our codex that while still powerful just doesn't have the versatility especially when it comes to being able to defeat both horde and MEQ lists reliably. As time goes on I find more and more games going down to the absolute wire and having to fly it out of danger by the seat of my pants while trying to have some models left on the board at the end of a game to claim a non-loss result.
I'm still avoiding going out with what I would term overpowered lists but it is getting closer to the date... Lil Tweaker October 7th, 2008, 05:14 APRIL-MAY:

Ugh... so close, and yet... NOT that I've got room to gripe next to them DE players, but still...
Apocalypse with more Baneblades... that’s cool. Maybe I can hold out and avoid a Marine army after all.
However, if they're gonna start the whole second wave thing with the plan of giving us more models, with no new content... that's lame. Don't get me wrong, I love checking out shiny new hotness, even when its not an army I play, but if its just figs with no game related meat I can mentally pick apart... that’s weak! January is going to be a hollow month for me. And as a Dark Elf player, if they are going to be releasing a second wave of new figs in a years time, that sux! I can't add any chariots to my army, because they might be releasing new ones in nine months. That's like hearing your prom date say "Sorry, only second base tonight, you might actually score if you take me out next prom!" It’s a tease and a let down! And how cheezed am I gonna be if I finish up my Executioners just in time to see newer, cooler ones released. GAH!!!!
Yeah... Baneblades... cool...

So soon! I'm expecting them to come out in 6 months, a plastic Steggie will be definately cheaper if they keep it the same size. The Kroxigors at present are no way near as good as the old one imo :P as they do seem a little, well, flat. If they're going to be plastic, I sure hope that they are going to be multi-posable (I'm hoping here. Not holding my breath on this one).
MARCH:
Apocalypse
Stompa and one or more Baneblade variants (Stormlord and/or Shadowsword, possibly others).
The Stompa would be welcome by many of my friends here, hopefully GW won't screw this one up otherwise, there'll be a few broken hearts ;)
Q3-Q4:
Necrons
New mini's? New Codex?
*Picks up Pulse Rifle* Bring it on!
I wonder if they're going to have something unique like, designing your own C'tan! *shivers*
Dark Eldar
New range by Jes Goodwin, Codex by Phil Kelley. End of the year, possibly bumped even later to make sure the army is done correctly.
Finally the wait is over! In a years time... :crying:
I can possibly predict the next Games Day UK 2009 is probably something to do with the Dark Eldar; Quite the way to celebrate their arrival don't you think?
-Kai-Itza- Hans Marcus October 7th, 2008, 13:00 I wonder when they will release a plastic Daemonhunters model. Plastic Grey Knights perhaps?:act-up: Just hoping Omegabob October 8th, 2008, 02:28 A plastic Inquisitor done like the WFB Empire General and High Elf Noble would be great. Then it could be used for Daemonhunters and Witch hunters. LoneFang October 9th, 2008, 16:15 If the release dates are correct that he has, there is no reason why I don't think it shouldn't be, the new Wolves Codex will be out within the next two months!!! YIPEE!!! Tsele October 9th, 2008, 16:20 Unfortuantely it is postponed for next year...
Until then we have a Codex! (Yes the old one!) Zemaphore October 9th, 2008, 16:22 Dark Eldar
New range by Jes Goodwin, Codex by Phil Kelley. End of the year, possibly bumped even later to make sure the army is done correctly.
End of year since 1999.
The other stuff is pretty good, looking forward to the IG releases. LoneFang October 9th, 2008, 16:59 OOPS, I was getting ready to correct myself on that post I made, I didn't see all of the post that "Tyfus" had made. It's a shame that GW has to space everything out like this and keep it's players in limbo! I'm just a very curious person!!!! | |
