Hello everyone! Well I'm a Dawn of War player (pc game) and I would like to start WH40k. Since I like the HQ/hero units for the Daemonhunters and the Baneblade from the Imperial Guard, is it possible/legal to have an army with HQ and elites from the Daemonhunter faction and a Baneblade and Imperial Guard for infantry and heavy, respectivley?

p.s. is a Space Marine and Imperial Guard army legal too?

Yes, you can have one Daemon Hunter HQ and a (single) elite in an Imperial Guard based army. If you search in the DH forum you will be able to find an explanation of how the rather complicated Allies system works.

Do note that Baneblades are not allowed in 'normal' 40K, they are only for Apocalypse. (There are rules for them in regular 40K, but they're a specialty thing usually only used in scenario games arranged with the other players ahead of time. If you just show up at the store, plop a Baneblade down, and try to use it in regular 40K, very few people will take you up on that!)

There is no legal way to combine (non Grey Knight) space marines and imperial guard. (Except of course the aforementioned Apocalypse.)

well welcome in the wonderful world of wargaming

dawn of war (PC GAME )and 40k are very different but as enjoyable maybe more the real thing as you model all as you wish in a certain limit but still you do it for you

there is ways to have a kind of mix of every thing you like

first of those are building small forces that can act as allies or two completely different force that fight side by side instead of count as one like the allies does.. but those always require acceptance of your opponent, usually that not a trouble as most players are open to some changes or new challenges

if you need a guide and resources, i'll be glad to help out and also avoid the mistakes ( and they where expensive ones ) i've done in all my years in the hobby :)
