This may have been discussed but I can't for the life of me find anything about it. Months ago I heard that the Tactical Marine box was being re-released for the new codex. Any news on other stuff coming soon?
Thanks, db

You betcha... i have heard a multitude of things... but the most common thing i hear from my *cough* sources, which must be left unnammed at the risk of jobs are:

A new landspeeder storm variant kit.

New tactical space marine box set with more options.

But best of all...

A new PLASTIC Thunderhawk Gunship model, im guessing will be about the same cost as a baneblade...

The guard are also set for some new releases when their codex comes out some time next year, the biggest one being a valkyrie drop ship plastic model kit.

Orks are set to have a bunch of new releases too by the looks, with a plastic battlewagon kit, a new plastic nob kit and new metal character models for all the new characters, except the warbiker special character (forgot his name :P).

Also, the dark eldar and space wolves codexs look to be redone next year...

for dark eldar players, i hear that new warrior models and archon models as well as some brand new unit types are due to be released towards Q4 of next year.

Necrons also will recieve some much needed attention it sounds like... with a new codex, and a small number of new unit types to bolster their tiny-by comparison list.. also re-arranging the unit types for several units to make certain choices like heavy support more viable. (i also heard that C'tan will shift to apocalypse only and bolstered... this is cool, but means no more ctan in regular games... however lords are said to come in 3-4 classes or levels now... bronze silver and gold levels to name a few... and perhaps platinum as the highest)

I'll believe the thunderhawk when I see it - not saying I don't trust you or your sources, but it has been talked about for so long I've almost used up all my salt, if you know what I mean.

I don't think a new tactical squad box set is needed to be honest, the current one is fine. The only model I'd really like to see is a plastic terminator captain and salamander shoulder pads (why have they made Aurora shoulder pads before raven guard or salamanders?).

It wouldn't surprise me to see a few more marine releases in a second wave. They are GW's main source of income, after all.

For the Tactical Marines, there's no reason to change the models, so if there is a new box the only change I can think of would be different options/equipment in the box, but with the marines themselves remaining the same.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I refused to believe the plastic drop pod was coming out until a guy at the local store told me to turn around so I could see it on the shelf. That's about what I've come down to with some of these things.

Re: Necrons. This has been discussed E-N-D-L-E-S-S-L-Y in other threads, but BRIEFLY, the C'Tan will most likely be relegated to Apocalypse data sheets, with some allegedly fantastic (Godly?) Forge World models to go with them.

But those who like the current C'Tan models and rules need not worry -- The concept of the "lord" will no longer be a mere generic one-codex-entry-fits-all unit type. There will be multiple types to choose from, which apparently will, a la some of the new SM characters, make certain units (flayed ones perhaps) count as "troops" choices, opening up a HUGE realm of possible army variants. In addition, there will be a "super lord" (my words, not anyone else's) that will allegedly make use of necrodermis (just like the current C'Tans do), and have access to most of the same rules that the current C'Tans do, allegedly to allow people to keep using the current C'Tan models, and with roughly the same rules, just changes in fluff in order to make the unit make a little more sense.

Ditto. A plastic thunder hawk is a pipe dream as the FW model is what, nearly three times the price of the FW baneblade so would realistically be 150ish quid. Also how would rules for a super heavy flyer be put into 40k terms? They kept the baneblade out for a reason. I think people are getting confused between the valkyrie, vulture and the thunderhawk. The Vulture is almost certain (gunship using skimmer rules or normal rules for appoc), the valkyrie, so ive heard, was due also (transport ship, bigger than vulture) but had problems at the molding stage so has been scraped/put on hold. The thunderhawk is, well, see my first line. IF, and its a big if, you want to see something like a thunderhawk it will be for the next supliment planetstrike (whenever that shows up).
Phew sorry for ranting but its an old rummer that does my head in when i read it. As for SMurfs all ive heard is new tacticals perhaps in the shoulder and weapons department?

If a thunderhawk was released it could not be used in normal games of 40k, just like the baneblade can't, only apocalypse or other future supplements.

The exception to this is, of course, the over complicated Imperial Armour rules which DO enable you to use super heavies and flyers in normal 40k games. Thats why the Tyranid Trygon has two rule sets, the damocles rhino and other things.

I also see no point in a New space marine tactical squad, can't they just sell the special weapons (like the plasmagun) seperately?
And I don't fancy carrying a Thunderhawk around with me, unless it was valkery size.

Yeah, I don't think you guys need anymore crap. Look at your selection now compared to everyone else, pretty nice.

Agreed, getting new stuff for you army is always nice, but everything the SM players have right now is new, apart form the attack bikes.

Yeah, any Space Marine players who complain they did not get enough new stuff aught to wait out in the back alley, where everyone who plays every other army will gladly offer their `condolences'.

DE, WH and DH got NO new models since their 'dex was released. The SM's even got a few new captains and sergeants in between 'dexes and rulebooks. And yes, that is jealousy talking here.

I dont see why the main tactical box set needs to be redone-doesnt it give all the special weapons anyway? Only thing its missing is a powerfist? (you can get the spare heavy weapons from the devastator box set anyway) Im fairly sure I saw an interview in WD around the release of the previous marine codex where it said they didnt feel the need to redo the tactical marines. (though maybe that was the actual models themselves and not whats included in the box).

all the new characters, except the warbiker special character

Wha? Snikrot, Badrukk, zagstruk, and wazzdakka have all been around for a long time... Also, I think the plastic thunderhawk was a rumor started by a redshirt at GW. Redshirts often lie.

*sarcasm mode on* ooo but didn't DE get a new witch model whey they repackaged them? And couldn't you say DH got the new plastic land raider crusader kit? *sarcasm mode off*:sarcastic:

Spoke to GW yesterday and mentioned the rumour of updating the tac squad box and the guy said he doubt it was going to happen as there isnt really a need to add anything. Plus he says take the rumour of the plastic thunderhawk with a pinch of salt, which i agree.

I can't see a tactical squad repackage any time soon. What would they add? A powerfist? Not really worth it. All the heavy weapons options? Wouldn't that make it a Devastator squad box?

Call me sceptical.

As for the thunderhawk, I'd give it a maybe. The Baneblade was clearly a success and that wasn't even for marines.

Nope, pretty sure they were all old ones from the wyche weapons/assault weapon blisters. However, I'm pretty sure the Scourges came out a few months after the 3rd Ed/DE release:P

As a DE player, I TOTALLY agree that other armies need new models more urgently. The rumour I heard was that a new Tactical Squad box was going to be released, possibly with another Mk of armour in it and, seeing as how I'm starting a SM army soon, I was curious if anyone had heard about it.

Really, to me, "A GW guy told me" ranks just below "I had a dream in which there was gonna be new models!".

Not too reliable, those redshirts.

Ok i'll rephrase, yesterday i was on the phone asking where my order was and i asked the guy... that better? Plus the only reason why they went with plastic baneblade is the success of the forgeworld model i.e how popular it was. I doubt many players want a thunderhawk.

Dracon Bob

If they included a Thunderhawk in a codex then yeah, people would buy it.

A new landspeeder storm variant kit.
Is there any pictures or release date for this yet?

A Baneblade is a massive tank that has lots of guns that go boom, a Thunderhawk is a flying transport that has a few guns that go pew pew, hmm i don't see how it compares.

There's some pictures on here, but I can't link them to here. So you will need to find them yourself.

so, speaking of new space marine rumors, has anyone heard anything about a vulkan he'stan model? every other special character in the codex has a model but him, are they planning on releasing him? and if not, why? i would ask a red shirt myself, but i live nowhere near a gw.

The powers that be at GW keep saying that they will eventually do a miniature for everything thats in the codex/army book. So perhaps sometime in the (most likely) distant future we will see a model of he'stan. However, right now I'm all up for converting him up!

He 'stan and Khan will get models in the second wave is my thinking currently, we will also get the Land Speeder Storm and other options.
