Hello all,

A few years ago, precinctomega organised and ran the first Conclave Hobby Competition which I was lucky enough to win. Now I feel it's my turn to give something back to the Inquisitor community, so I have organised a repeat event. The competition is to create an original character for Inquisitor - this involves both building and painting a model, and writing background and stats for the character. The full rules and details of how to enter can be found here (http://www.kaled100.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/index3.htm).

My hope is that this competition will raise the profile of Inquisitor across the internet (and hence the world), and encourage more people to try their hand at 54mm modelling. Inquisitor models make excellent display pieces for any collection, but I also hope that once people have designed, built and written background for their character they will be tempted to try them out in a game sometime and see just what it is that makes Inquisitor so much fun to play.

As you might expect, the competition is being run with zero budget, and although I'm sure you'd all enter anyway for the glory of being declared winner, I have managed to secure prizes from a couple of sponsors;

Pegaso Models (http://www.pegasomodels.com/) have kindly donated a few of their fantastic 54mm models (I will announce the exact details once they are finalised). Pegaso sell a wide range of historical and fantasy miniatures, many of which are perfect for Inquisitor - I hope you'll all take the time to browse their website, and I'm sure you'll find something to suit your taste.
Steve Buddle has generously offered a 54mm figure from his as yet unnamed new company. Steve is well known and respected in the Inquisitor community as the sculptor of the excellent Jena Orechiel and Abrites Judge models. More recently, he has sold his work under the name Spyglass Miniatures, and I trust that you will all support his new company when it is launched.
The competition runs for two months (closing date Monday 2nd March), which should give you all plenty of time to acquire the parts you need, build and paint your models, and write some background.

Evening all,

I'm happy to announce the third sponsor for this competition - JMD Miniatures (http://www.jmd-miniatures.com/) :)

They have generously donated half a dozen of their rather excellent character busts including the Orc (http://www.jmd-miniatures.com/images_niveau2/11/zoom_1.jpg), Aviator (http://www.jmd-miniatures.com/images_niveau2/38/zoom_1.jpg), Ghoul (http://www.jmd-miniatures.com/images_niveau2/39/zoom_1.jpg) & Huri Khan (http://www.jmd-miniatures.com/images_niveau2/33/zoom_1-p.jpg). All are resin and the quality is excellent. Please take the time to browse their website, there really are some excellent models in their range.

I hope some of you will be tempted to enter - it'd be great to see more converts to Inquisitor and 54mm modelling.

Evening all,

Time for the second exciting announcement of the week - I'm finally ready to reveal the rather awesome models that Pegaso have donated as prizes. I don't know if anyone in here is interested in entering, but if these models don't tempt you to have a go, I don't know what will.

Up for grabs are a Saracen Warrior (http://www.pegasomodels.com/productdetails_en.asp?id=93), Comanchero (http://www.pegasomodels.com/productdetails_en.asp?id=532), Samurai Warrior (http://www.pegasomodels.com/productdetails_en.asp?id=118), Roman Gladiator (http://www.pegasomodels.com/productdetails_en.asp?id=108) and last but not least the excellent Kuvar Reaper (http://www.pegasomodels.com/productdetails_en.asp?id=774).

I've got a few Pegaso models in my collection and they have always been excellent - I recently bought myself a Kuvar Reaper and it is every bit as fantastic as it looks in the photos.

Evening all,

I've got two announcements for you today. The first is that Steve Buddle has launched his new company, Eolith Miniatures (http://www.eolithminiatures.com/) so I can now tell you that he is offering a copy of his excellent new Selene model as a prize in this competition. As some of you no doubt know, Steve has sculpted for GW in the past and created some of the most popular models in the Inquisitor range - namely the Arbites Judge and Jena Orechiel. I hope you'll all take time to look at his new website, maybe buy a model or two, and encourage him to sculpt more 54mm miniatures.

The second announcement is that we have a celebrity judge for the competition - the Inquisitorial Representative himself, Gav Thorpe, has agreed to take part in the judging!

Well, so far there doesn't seem to be any interest from Librarium Online, but just in case you're keeping quiet this is a quick reminder that there are only about 10 days to go (closing date is Monday 2nd March). If you have any questions or need any help, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I will send a receipt when entries are submitted so you know that I have received it, If you don't hear back from me within a day or so of sending your entry, please PM me to check I've received it.

Quick reminder - the deadline is this coming Monday (2nd March). I've had a few entries, but there's still time if you want to submit a character.

I've got about a dozen entries so far, and it sounds like quite a few people are doing some last minute painting in order to get their entries done in time...

Anyway, as the deadline is fast approaching, I think it's time to let you know what will happen next. Tomorrow I will process all of the entries, and put together an online gallery. You will then have about a day to check that I haven't made any mistakes in uploading your characters before I invite the judges to look at them. (Note, this will be your chance to correct my mistakes NOT any of your own that you spot.)

At this stage the gallery will be anonymous so I'd ask you to refrain from discussing about who has submitted each character. After the judging has been completed, I will add usernames to the gallery so everyone gets the recognition they deserve.

The winners will be announced as soon as the judging is complete. The judging process will take as long as it takes - it might just be a day or two, but it may be that the judges take longer to reach a consensus. Afterwards, the winners can contact me about how they can claim their prizes.

I can't guarantee feedback from the judges about each entry, but I will provide feedback to anyone who asks for it. If you want feedback from your peers, I suggest you start a thread in the appropriate forum(s) - but please wait until judging is complete.

Evening all,

All of the entries are now online. The gallery is anonymous at this stage, so please do not discuss who created which character until the judging is complete.

Two of you will notice that portions of your entries have been omitted due to you exceeding the word count by an amount that I considered excessive. If you are one of these people you will have an e-mail from me asking you to resubmit your character background/rules.

If you spot any mistakes that I have made while uploading your character please e-mail me and I will correct them.

After much deliberation on the various merits of the entries, the competition results have just been announced.

Drum roll, please...

The Conclave is delighted to announce the;

Conclave Modelling Competition 2009 Results

After careful deliberation, the final placings in the event have been determined to be:
First Place - Bibliothecary Kendal
which wins not only the most glory, but the bumper haul of the Eolith miniature, one miniature from Pegaso and three of the JMD busts.
Second Place - Eldreth Dramathire
whose creator takes home two Pegaso Miniatures and two JMD busts.
Third Place - Zaya Vane
which wins one Pegaso miniature and one bust from JMD Miniatures.
Fourth Place - Aleksey Dmitrinov
who marches away with a single Pegaso Miniature.

Finally, there's an honourable mention for Davos Adscrati, which doesn't win a prize, but comes home as "the best of the rest"!

You can see all of the entries here (http://www.kaled100.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/index4.htm).

The standard this year was a joy to behold, and the final placing of the miniatures was thought about long and hard. Our commiserations to those of you who have just missed out on a prize - there was much to commend about all of the entries, but winners had to be picked in the end.

We are indebted to Dave Knowles for his organising of the event this time around, and also to all of our kind sponsors - Eolith Miniatures, Pegaso Miniatures and JMD Miniatures.

Dave will be in touch with the winners to discuss your selection of prizes, and the delivery of said gorgeous models. We want to see them all painted up as soon as you can!
Let the dissection of the results begin!

Head on over to The Conclave (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=882&start=15) for more discussion...
