Tactics
For Deployment Type
Spearhead - Deploy foot based units and keep rhino squads in reserve. Likewise Unless a lot of vehicles in the opposition army, the obliterators are in reserve.
Dawn of War - Deploy the plague marines well forward and the chaos marines further back (or on an objective if possible), deploy daemon prince to support the plague marines. Rhino squads come on turn 1, obliterators in reserve.
Pitched Battle - Deploy entire army (except lesser daemons).
Against Army types
Mech - Against mech armies generally deploy the obliterators to maximise shooting from turn 1.
Static - Deploy army as close as possible, deepstrike the oblits.
Unit Specific
Daemon Prince - Go for other big critters, init 6 and re-roll to hit and wound should help him here, also to wipe out smaller termie squads etc.
Lesser Daemons - Assault support and to help tie up an enemy unit, try to engage units to block LOS. Also, if needed will camp on an objective.

Land Speeder and attack bike are fast fire power or objective contesters. Scouts outflank and cause trouble or are a speedbump. Sternguard come down first turn, combat squad, and blow up tanks / shred infantry. They then look scary and draw fire.
