Hey again. Well after to talking to a few people who play at the store near my apartment, we somehow got to discussing how effective drop pods are in Space Marine armies, which led to us debating on how effective GK would be in Drop Pods. So tomorrow were going to test this idea out in a 3000 point battle, with me fielding 1500 points of GK (borrowing some models) allied w/1500 points of Imperial Guard vs 1500 points of Chaos Marines and a 1500 point "Chaos" guard army. Here's the army list so tell me what you guys think:
*Grand Master:
-w/MC NFW, Psycannon
*(5x) Terminator Retinue: (w/Grand Master)
-w/(1x)psycannon, NFW, (4x) SB, NFW
-w/ Drop Pod w/SB
*(7x) Grey Knights:
-w/Justicar w/NFW, SB, (2x) Psycannons, (4x) NFW, SB
-w/Drop Pod w/SB
*(7x) Grey Knights:
-w/Justicar w/NFW, SB, (2x) Psycannons, (4x) NFW, SB
-w/Drop Pod w/SB
*(7x) Grey Knights:
-w/Justicar w/NFW, SB, (2x) Psycannons, (4x) NFW, SB
-w/ Drop Pod w/SB
*GK Dreadnought:
-w/Multi-Melta, CCW/Incinerator, Extra Armor, Smoke
-w/ Drop Pod w/SB
Total: 1503 points
NOTE: I know its not a legal army list, all where doing is testing out how effective GK are in Drop Pod assults, plus theres a really good chance that they will be able to take them when there new codex comes out. Cheers.

The list overall is great, but I would like to comment on your note....

Ok so basically, as much as one might hope that grey knights get drop pods, they wont. It is just not going to happen. They teleport onto the battlefield or use thunderhawks to land and then fight.
Furthermore the new codex wont be coming out for another ungodly amount of time as it seems currently, unless you have some sort of inside information that others here don't have, in which case, SHARE! hehe
But in all seriousness, Grey Knights with drop pods would be quite spectacular, But it is just not going to happen. The idea is that when they are gone, there is nothing but death and destruction to show for their presence. No dead grey knights, no dead land raiders or anything for the most part. So they wouldn't use drop pods at all. The fact that they are psychers and thus use the warp to teleport in further adds to the fact that they don't need drop pods and wont use them.
So unless GW forgets their own fluff (again! *sigh*) or they just completely ignore what they wrote in the current DH codex, there will never ever ever be a drop pod for Grey Knight use....
Sorry to be so blunt about the subject. You have to remember, a little more then 60% of a grey knights strengths comes from its shooting. With only 1 round of shooting then close combat, I am not sure how effective they will be vs some armies, but they should be fun at least!
Let us know of your findings! And sorry to shatter your hopes and dreams :(

Shattering my dreams? I could honestly care less dude so its no big deal. Anyways, the results where freaking good. Long story short GK would excell as an elite drop podding force, so its a real shame we cant. And as for a new codex, its just a theory I have. So far they have come out with a new Space Marines, Imperial Guard, and now the Space Wolves Codex, so they might be trying to do all the force of the Imperium first, but I do know that necrons and dark eldar are in the mix as well and will probably be done first.

Though on the other hand, grey knights may get suspiciously drop-pod like teleportation rules, after all even daemons are dropping in turns 1 and 2 these days.

Or sometimes Land Raiders.
I'd rather not have Drop Pods; all they really add to an army list is another Kill Point, and I find that the mega-low model count and general awesomeness of Grey Knights puts them at a huge advantage in Annihilation missions. Drop Pods would just ruin that. If they have to give us anything of that nature I'd prefer Deep Striking; though to be honest the absolute best thing they could do is to adopt the Thunderhawk as a core-rules model and let us use that instead. I need an excuse to buy one because they're awesome :D
