Hey everyone, I was wondering what you all use for your War Altar models, does anyone have some good conversion ideas, I'm not the biggest fan of the actual Gw model.

"thanks for moving it archon!"

Moved.

Do you have any particular idea as to what you would want it to look like? My thoughts would be to base it off a chariot/Stank.

Ya I really don't know, the main thing I dont like about the current model is it seems so themed towards that named lord. Does it come with some nice bits or is it a pretty staight foward kit? Sadly my budget isn't to big these days, ide love to do a steam tank conversion with it like the one they have in the MMO artwork, but sadly that would be way to costly for me :( ,expessially still needing to get a steamtank just for my army. My only fear with using a different chariot and maybe like a random griffon model if I can find one is that Im worried that the chariot will stray from the actual theme of the empire army. What do you think?

my renegade war alter was a corpse cart being pulled by chaos warriors and it looks ace so if you do something on these lines it is cheap and looks good

Please don't use a corpse car, the war altar is much too precious for this.

A cart itself is not too difficult to make, a simple base of plasticard on an axle to 2 wheels. As to the icon itself, that's a little more difficult. You could make / take a suitably big banner and combine this with a german cross cut out of foam or some such material.
Paint the cross golden or marble and paint a nice impressive banner and put the priest alongside this.

Should be pretty doable.

I actually just finished my war altar today! I used the corpse cart as a base but it looks absoloutely nothing like it. If you have a couple extra warhorses, flags bits, a character and some extra stuff to sprouse it up then it will look great.

I suggest doing a conversion because I had a blast putting it together today and I love knowing that nobody will have the same looking altar as me which is a good thing because I'm bound to come across a few.

This a great conversion I ran across yesterday. I will probably make something similar.

Ya I need to make my war altar soon, I just haven't decided on what chariot or some similar set to start with for the base.

Hello,

So the theme of my army is the "True Order of Sigmar". These priests have gone against the church and formed their own order. The Arch Lector wears a top knot to signify his postion as head of the order(just to explain why he isn't clean shaven).

As promised, here are the pics:

So what do you think?

Also I've never posted pics online before so let me know if there's a problem!

Thanks! Yeah that is using the Corpse Cart along with parts from knights, Flagellants bits, 6th edition spearmen shields, and parts from the general box.
