After the Talos, what is your favorite/best option to come out of a Webway portal?

Anything that is assault based and in our army that’s the Archon/Archite/Incubi/Wych variations.

What if talos isn't my favorite over all?
My last few wwp's (admittedly in 4th) I dropped the talos all together and went with ravagers, raiders and a squad of warpbeasts.
I guess my most powerful unit out of the WWP was my wyches with archon on board. Move, disembark and assault different targets. Add in the ravagers firepower and that is one flank that no longer exists.

I guess wyches...just because of the assault capabilities. Ya know the 30 so ttacks at I 6 and potential 18" assault.
But I've never really been a fan of the WWP and never use it. And well...I only lose to Orks! (except when I built a flying circus, got them that time).

It's not practical, there are better units to put in the warp, but the PURE IMAGERY of the 3 talos coming out of the wwp, is just....
Shivers... I can't help but do an evil laugh as the talo move out and continue to move.

I don't think that you can field them in a squad of only three though.

*cues drum riff* :act-up:
I like Warp Beasts even better than Wyches because they always have the 12" assault + fleet. Plus they are cheap as dirt, so spending a KP to earn a KP is not a bad deal in this case. The Talos I find is still slow coming out of the WWP. You have to be very lucky with the timing or your opponent has to come to you for the Talos to get any work done. Lone Lords are my second best choice, since they can also always use the 12" assault if needed – but get fewer attacks with them, and there goes one of your HQ slots.
Ravagers and other Warrior squads are great choices as long as they can shoot on the move.

I voted Wychs, whats more amusing then wych bombing your opponents army ? ;)
My second, although i haven't done this would be Talos if you get your WWP where you need it,it's GG for opponant as 3 MC's will just ruin his day.

In 5th edition I would say, hellions, grotesques, and scourges. Only because those are all the models that stay on the shelf next to my WWP models...

I always enjoyed my Reaver Jetbikes coming out of the warp like a swarm of angry hornets. It was a 4th edition list (as was all wwp lists) that allowed their safe passage into close combat because usually when your opponent sees 12 to 15 bikes lined up they tend to "freak".
Same goes with the Talos - the "trap-door spider" tactic is soooo satisfying.
Of course now in 5th, the talos and bikes in my lists are used as "distraction units" and the wwp is no longer as useful as it was.
I think now in 5th the only true unit I would probably always put into the warp would be a ravager or two. Not necessarily every game and not all of them but I started putting them in the portal in 4th edition and it had some benefits:
1. Guaranteed me that the ravager would have first shot when I didn't win first move
2. Tended to survive the game more as my cc units tied up enemy units by the time the ravagers arrived.
Thinking about it now I could see this still to be true for 5th but running a wwp just for placing your Heavy selections doesn't seem too point efficient.

Just a reminder: Don't forget to put closing dates on all your polls.
