Ive got a 2000 pt battle coming up against orks in 2 weeks. We are playing on a 4x4 table, dawn of war, anihilation. .... and I know very little about orks.... never played them, never watched them play.
I know my opponent has lots of bikes, tankbustas, nobz, a couple walkers, some copters, Ghazgull (sp), and the usual tons of ork infantry. Probably other options too, as he has stated hes got like 5000 pts available.
So whats my best plan of attack here? Ive got a smelly ork breatheing down my back. Here are the units ive got available to me.
HQ
Ku'Gath the Plaguefather 1
Keeper of Secrents 1
Great Unclean One 1
Bloodthirster 1
Lord of Change 1
The Masque 1
Epidemius 1
The Blue Scribes 1
Skulltaker 1
Herald of Khorne 3
Herald of Tzeentch 2
Herald of Nurgle 2
Herald of Slaanesh 2
Elite
Fiend of Slaanesh 4
Flamers of Tzeentch 6
Bloodcrushers of Khorne 1
Beasts of Nurgle 1
Troops
Bloodletters of Khorne 33
Daemonettes of Slaanesh 11
Plaguebearers of Nurgle 20
Pink Horrors of Tzeentch 20
The Changeling 1
Nurglings 9
Fast
Flesh Hounds of Khorne 20
Karanak, Hound of Vengeance 1
Screamers of Tzeentch 5
Furies of Chaos 10
Heavy
Soul Grinder of Chaos 3
Daemon Prince of Chaos 4 {2 khorne 1winged, 1 tz, 1 slan winged}
I also have one Khorne hearld on a Chariot, but no others.
I may possibly buy additional bloodcrushers(maybe 3) if needed. (I know they kick a$$)

as i am an ork player my usual 2000 point game is 50 orks
orks are very dangerous when charging so if you want to to the same role get loads of blood letters daemon princes and yes buy the other 2 blood crushers because yes they do kick a$$ and the koc and bloodthirster oh and take the flesh hounds
but if you want to do what guard and marines usually do is shoot them to pieces so the alternative would be soul grinders with phlegm then take the loc and the two heralds of tzeentch take the flamers and the pink horrors and take the fiends and screamers hope i could help

Shoot them to whittle down their numbers and charge them to negate their furious charge bonus and force them to take more No Retreat! wounds.

Do you think Soul grinders or Daemon princes would be more effective. Do have orcs have much for anti-walker.?

I think in this instance Soul Grinders will do better than Daemon Princes as then if you drop a couple at the back of the board his Tank Bustas will be forced to target them which may prevent them from shooting for a few turns and even when they do get in range they may not even damage it. If your doing that it may also be worth it to get Pavane of Slaanesh in the army somewhere to bunch up the giant Ork Mobs.

I'm a longtime Ork player and recently started Daemon player, and I've found (in games with my Daemon playing cousin) the best thing to run against Orks are units that can pop trukks from a distance, hold up in close combat, and not easily fall to rokkits.
Plaguebearers work great, especially in large groups, since the Orks usually don't have much ordnance or AP2, making it very tough for them to deal with them.
Fiends are fantastic against Orks, since they're quite tough, immune to instant death, and fast/strong enough to trash trukks.
I'd take Soulgrinders over Daemon Princes, as the princes fall to rokkits a bit too easy. Granted, Soulgrinders are vulnerable to rokkits as well, but they can stay far back and still be effective. Daemon Princes have to get close, and that's not a safe place for them to be.
Take plenty of units with bolt and/or breath. Small units of pink horrors with bolt are good, as are flamers of tzeentch.
When choosing an HQ, be sure to take something that's not too frail, but at the same time make sure they're fast enough to keep up with the mechanized Orks. I'd take a Keeper of Secrets and/or a Lord of Change with breath. Of course, you could just use Heralds of Tzeench on chariots w/bolt or breath instead. It's up to you.
Do not use the Nurgle HQs, as they'll just be shot to pieces from afar, or the Khorne units which aren't the best fit when facing Orks, or any of the heralds besides the ones of Tzeentch. I'd also avoid daemonettes (not tough enough and the rending is a waste against Orks) and nurglings (the Orks have too many attacks, so plaguebearers are better).
Good luck!

Heres the list that im leaning toward. A couple thing to remember..
1. its on a 4x4 board
2. Dawn of War
3. Annihilation.
These are a givin.. the amount of terrain will be determined that day.
Ku'Gath the Plaguefather
Great Unclean One : Breath, Aura of Decay, Cloud of Flies, Instruments
Fiend of Slaanesh x 4 : Unholy Might
Bloodcrushers of Khorne x 5 : Fury,Icon, Instruments
Plaguebearers of Nurgle x 14 : icon
Pink Horrors of Tzeentch x19
The Changeling
Soul Grinder of Chaos Phlem
Soul Grinder of Chaos Phlem
Soul Grinder of Chaos Phlem + tongue
2000 pts
---------------------------------------
This list was built for annihilation in mind. Because of our small boards that were using. Slow and purposeful is less of a factor. Minimum # of units for the enemy to gain kill points. What he does get, he has earned.
The Nurgle HQs : TOUGH, FNP, Breaths. assault units with aura. Ku'Gath the Plaguefather has extra ordinance attack. I still may switch him over to a regular GUO the same as the other one and pick up some additional PB's. What do you think?
Elites : Fiends.. fast and furious Bloodcrushers x5.. building now. maxed out gifts for better wound allocation.
Troops : Plague bearers - TOUGH.. Horrors - fire for effect. and AP4
Heavy : soul grinders x3 . tough walkers that can rip thru stuff.
---------------------------------------------------------
The plan.
-Drop Kugath, bloodcrushers, horrors, 2 SG in primary wave.
-Kugath and crushers take point and rush forward. SGs shoot from rear.
-Other units then drop on crushers icon and vomit and breath any unit targetable.
-crush, kill, destroy anything left.
Comments??
One more thing.. this is for all the marbles. ive swept opponents thus far at 1250,1500,1750. So im 3-0.. A win here will seal the deal for this tourny.

200 points on a 4x4 table against orks? so where exactly do you think your going to be deep striking those daemons anyway?
apart from the lack of room to deep strike you actually have a lot of potentiall to anihilate orks, soul grinder and flamers in the first wave will see a lot of oprks bite the dust and don't forget that your first wave will attract orks like mad so you may find it easier if you fling some plague bearers down in the first wave to soak up attacks and keep your grinder/s firing. try not to worry about charging orks too much but instead attempt to divide the army between firing positions and make oit so even if they kill a major fire point they'll have to cross a large distance to do it again. on this nmot ill wrap it up by suggesting that you take some things as a staple long range kill against ork trucks and battle wagons, i like lord of change and herald of tzeentch on chariot with bolt and master of sorcery, but many players prefer the cheaper option of a daemon prince ( i reason that a 3+ invulnerable save, flight, bolt, gaze, T6, and the ability to instant kill is more than worth his points).
thats the best advice i can give without wattling on hope it helps mate.

Nobody listens to me much round here, but when it comes to orks and daemons, slaanesh, slaanesh and more slaanesh. Who cares if you wound on 5's you're still getting between 60-80 attacks at I 6 which is enough to bring down 30 boyz (I know from experience). 3 Breath and pavane princes will do a good amount of damage softening him up. Masque helps in the pavane department (but she will die in the long run). Fiends are great support units fir you're princes and big block daemonette units.
But that's me a pure slaanesh daemon player, who's undefeated (you dont play DE for 4 years without learning how to play a fragile army effectively.)
