Below is a 750pt list using the models i have. Extra models i have are 4 or 5 more big shoota boys, 4 more nobz, 2 more warbosses and 4 more deffkoptas. I'm not looking for ultra competetive but does this list look ok to begin playing with? (nothing illegal or too stupid?)

HQ
ork warboss
powerklaw
bosspole
eavy armour
shoota
total - 100

ELITE:
5 nobz - 100 (warboss joins these guys)
w/slugga+choppa

TROOPS
20 boyz
w/1 big shoota
w/1 nob w/ bosspole, powerklaw
total - 162

20 boyz
w/1 big shoota
w/1 nob w/ bosspole, powerklaw
total - 162

FAST ATTACK
5 deffkoptas w/twin rocket launchers

total = 749

-Your nobz are troops, scoring units
-the boys squad are 165pts each
-the list is 755

I think you should get a powerklaw in the nob unit and move the bosspole to the nob unit incase you ever want the boss to leave the group

Squeeze as many heavy weapons as you can in, so max out the big shootas on your boys. Ditch the BP on the warboss as blu said, and maybe upgrade some choppas to big choppas if you can scrounge up some points. Seems like a solid list, and even at 750 pts it has loads of boys and the versatile koptas. My only main concern is the lack of transport for the boss. Expect his unit to get shot up quickly unless you screen him or sneak him through cover. The nob bodyguard will be more fragile than first appears, but in such a small game I doubt you'll face much trouble.

Overall fairly solid, could use a few adjustments but looks good and ded killy.

As I see it, those nobs are as good as dead. If you stick the warboss with them they will be a high priority target and even in 750 points there is enough firepower in any army to crush ten T4 wounds without even blinking.
They need a transport, you could drop a deffkopta for a trukk but then you'll have only 4, which is a bad number, and only one armored vehicle that will be the target of every antitank on the board.

IMHO the best you could do is drop the full nob bodyguards and field more boyz and big shoota

Imagine replacing the nob squad and the rokits to make 3 groups of 3 defkoptas. They are T5 2 wounds i think they should be safe/expendable in low point games.

Alot of these comments make sense and when i boost up my list and buy more models i'll defantly look at a truck. Blu's last comment is doable for me with these models, iirc (books not on me) i can drop the 5 nobz and pick up 2 more deffkoptas (models have rokkits on them and i don't really feel like converting them all) and run 1 unit of 3 and 1 unit of 4 deffkoptas. Boss would then join a unit of boyz i guess.

Good idea, indeed... you can harrass enemies from the very start with scouting deffkoptas whicich will be very annoying and will buy time for your boyz to engage the enemies in CC.

If you discard 5 nobz and put 2 deffkoptas in you'll have 10 points left. You can use them to field two more big shootas :)

Anyway, if you want to make your army grow you'll need either more boyz or transports for the ones you have

i agree with the above, the Nobs wont last long at all on foot, if you do have a trukk you could split your deffkopptas up and just have three units of one.. and you'll have some points left over to buy some more nobs or upgrades... the kopptass can still be very strong this way.

PLayed my first game last night i took

warboss with powerklaw
20 boyz with 2 big shoota, nob with pk and bp X 2
3 deffkoptas with rokkits
4 deffkoptas with rokkits

Had 5 objectives vs mates imperial fist (or guard?) he had a tech with services dudes, 5 snipers, 3 dreadnaughts with 3 drop pods and a small marine unit. I won, only lost a unit of deffkoptas and half a unit of boyz, he lost everything but his drop pods and 1 immobilized dread. I had 2 objectives he had 0.

Thoughts on the game are that powerklaws totally own dreads! I blew up 2 dreads on my first attacks.

Deffkoptas are very nice at focus firing down units but are vulnerable if left in shooting range of the dreads missiles and meltas (they took out the marine squad while staying out of range of return fire then immobilized 2 dreads)

The bonus shots from 2 big shootas are very nice and helped me take out some snipers and his service guys.

I now have 20 more AoBR and 2 trukks comming to me so i may mix my list up abit and drop the unit of 3 deffkoptas for 1 trukk with 12 boyz and a nob w/pk+bp and possibily swap a unit of boyz for another trukk with the same set up.
More mobile boyz to hit objectives would have helped alot last night.

Sounds like ur list did quite well! Looks pretty good for a 750 pt list, and the deffkoptas stomped your enemy's vehicles it sounds like.

You are correct in assuming PK are dread killers. Slap one on a warbiker mob and they can get behind enemy armor and tear em a new exhaust pipe fairly quickly. Deffkoptas and big shootas are deceptively useful, cram as many in as you can spare. And the trukks should obviously help you in bigger games, or replace a few koptas in smaller games and rocketyour boss and some boys to the front where they can do some damage.

Grats on your first victory!
