View Full Version : Target Priority Test with a Target Lock

Since 5th ed. I have been using the target lock without needing to take target priority tests under the pretense that the target priority test no longer exists so I would not need to take them anymore even though it is mentioned in the rules for the target lock. This was all fine in our gaming group until recently a member of ours came across a thread on Dakka Dakka discussing whether or not a leadership test is still needed to shoot at another unit. It seems that now because of this thread he is convinced I should be taking leadership tests.
How do the rest of you regard this rule? How do your opponents see it? How do you play it in your games/tournaments?
Thanks

Target Priority tests no longer exist. The Target Lock works without needing a test, now.

its referencing a rule that doesn't exist anymore, therefore no target priority tests.
just imagine 4th ed never existed

It was effectively replaced with the whole cover save weirdness.
But there are not tests for priority. They'll soon realise that when they can't find the rule in the rulebook :silly:.

The BRB 5th edition FAQ clearly states that rules references in pre-5e codexes that no longer exist in the new edition of the game are simply ignored outright. Period.
Your target locks work automatically now as a result.

Wow, fastest response ever guys, thanks a lot... but I do notice that we are all Tau players here and these could be biased opinions. Do all the people your regularly game with agree with this?

It's the official ruling, and a simple search would have revealed about 85 different threads all answering that one point (identically). I know my group plays it like this as well.

Everyone in my local game store and gaming club plays it that way too. Rule no longer exists in 5th therefore cannot be enforced by any other means.
