I like my Striking Scorpions, and even though I always give my Exarch a claw/chainsword combo I'm very curious now: what do chainsabres look like? I can't seem to find a picture of them anywhere.

Here, quick google search gave these:
eldar.arhicks.co.uk: miniatures > craftworld eldar > eldar striking scorpions (http://eldar.arhicks.co.uk/miniatures/craftworld/craftworld_striking_scorpions.php)

I like them, thanks for finding them. My google skills are weak apparently.

I had the same problem, and I use Chainsabres. My Scorpions arent tank hunters, so I decided on the rerolls for infantry killing. Heres what I came up with...
The first sword is the one he had before. The other is an SM chainsword that I filed the teeth off the back side of. It seems appropriate, but as you said there is no reference so I suppose its up to your imagination.

I was just looking at the schemes here...just to make sure you know, the Exarch does not get to keep his Shuriken Pistol, much less get two. The Codex says "...or replace both with Chainsabres."

That's true, but it also says that Chainsabres come with twin-linked shuriken pistols built in.

Damn you're right...so they still get to shoot, twin linked even. Looks like Ill have to model that on.

And going by RAW it might be argued that the pair of Chainsabres count as one special weapon, meaning the pistols would count as that extra weapon. They however do not have strenght boost, which is the one reason i haven't made a model using them yet. It's cool and i like the idea, but S3 with reroll is barely superior than S3 and definitely inferior to S6 Armor Ignoring....
Maybe when nextcodex come around, maybe.

Shouldnt be by death much on standard marines and chainsabres are superior in IG department.
My excel mathammer gave me about 0.49 kills on a normal assault (not charge and assumed 3 attacks from chainsabers I dont know if this is right) and 0.55 with the claw (shooting not counted) against marines
Against IG Sabres about 1.33 and 0.55 again for the claw.
If the purpose for the squad is to hunt infantry only i dont see why not get the sabres. They are cheaper too. Also if the the blade count as just 1 weapon then the twinlinked pistols would increase the attacks to 4 and that would make them even better.
Modelling wise i like the idea on the link Lia posted I will do that on mine since i have an extra claw

That's strange about the equipment itself; It means the Exarch is carrying no less than four close combat weapons, which would imply +3 attacks. However, the rules on them are pretty clear that you get +2 attacks and no extra bonus for having multiple weapons and even the old rulesets said you can't get more than +1 for an extra close combat weapon.
How do you calculate in a disadvantage of going on initiative 1? It seems like a mistake to ignore it since it increases the chance that the Exarch will be dead before he even gets to attack.

I personally believe the exarchs attack with chainsabres should be 2+1+2 (base+mandi+close combat weapons) Normally it should only get +1 for having 2 combat weapons however it clearly states that chainsabres give +2 to attack instead of +1 This results in 5 s3 attacks with reroll to hit and wound.
This changes my mathammer calculations as well (I used only 3 attacks before bah!) and comes up to 0.82 marine kills vs 0.55 (claw) and 2.22 IG kills vs 0.55 (claw).
So pretty much the only benefit of the claw is higher toughness models + vehicles.

Here's my take on the Chainsabres. I misread the description and put the pistols on the actual blades opposed to the gauntlets he is meant to have. Forgive the quality of the paintjob as well, I did it months ago and I have improved a fair bit since then.

Looks original with that weapon conversion actually! Very cool!
