ok, so after my blunder for the necron codex. i found out that i was meant to say dark eldar not necron. so apoligies to those poor souls who ahd to go through with that.
i am bring fresh news direct from UK gamesday and from the staff themselves.
The dark eldar codex is going for a last batch and will go limited edition very soon and very quickly it will go. i was told this directly from the guys unpackaging the new space wolf bits and new gamesworkshop bits and models.
this will likely mean that the dark eldars will finally get an update after 11 years and they will likely come out after the tyranids in 2010,
hope you enjoy this slice on news ^^.]
also when i get my trip to the HH authors at gws hq i tink or when i do. i will try my best to ask a few questions about the DE codex if at all possible.
thanks

Everything I've been told (And as my primary army, DE is the first thing I ask about when I meet GW dev team members) points towards a fall 201o release for them, thought it's a tentative fall 2010 release subject to further delay because Jes Goodwin's still working on them and he's not releasing his greens for general production until he's 100% happy with them.
Personally, I could happily wait another 2 years knowing that at the end of it I'll be getting an army sculpted by Jes. The guy's a genius with putty- I'm head over heel in love with his Cold Ones.

Why would HH authors know anything about a codex release?

why are we still listening to this poster?

If DE were mentioned by anyone in the know at Gamesday UK, we would have heard about it by now from multiple sources who went there.

and why would you put a codex on limited edition? :/

It was specifically stated at GamesDay (repeatedly) that GW no longer give out information on future releases beyond the next one, because it dilutes their message - so I'd be very surprised if any GW employees risked breaking their NDA over a codex supposedly out in 18 months time. Hell, they didn't even want Necrons mentioned.

As this is news from a source who manages to confuse Necrons with Dark Eldar, I wouldn't trust them to tell me today's date, let alone the order of shadowy future releases of a company that tries to remain schtum on such matters.

Now, now people. Just because a poster has previously posted some unreliable or untrue rumours it doesn't mean you have the right to be insulting towards them. Post with some decorum and politeness please.

Yes, what`s the point of this? To sell less miniatures that they could?
Someone told something unreliable rumour to atique_nova.
I would not beleive them, maybe they just got bored with this question and just said something"official" to get the end of the conversation quickly.

well some would risk it and i don't intend to ask HH staff, beacuse i hope to ask if i could talk to other ppes within the place. expanded comment later.
what do you mean why are we still listening to this poster?
thanks

I said that because you had previously posted rumors about both necrons and tyranids. Both of which were false. Not to mention you posted them after the fact, when it was already known they were false.
This was your 3rd false rumor.
I was frustrated.

There is no news on Necrons or DE.
But we all know both of them are going to fight to see who gets the codex first.
As a Cron and DE player i would have my bets DE get the codex first for a number of reasons.
1.GW haven't even started the Necron codex.
2.Multiple podcasts have comfirmed DE are in the works.
3.Loads of DE fluff and artwork floating in GW's new books (PlanetStrike) being one of them.

Just saw they pulled down the raider/warrior pack for purchase on the website. Not saying its anything concrete, but usually they pull them when something new is coming down the road.

i didn't post anything about the nids, i guessed the nids and said necrons instead of DE. an action which i regret, i was still hyper from gamesday when i typed the thread. i am sure you undersand the hyperness i went through after gamesday ^^.lol

I heard something from a GW staffer yesterday. He said he had heard a rumour that the DE codex will not be a pure DE, but instead be compromised of DE, Pirates and Harliquins. Sounds interesting, but as pure usual even though this came from a manager... add a salt mine. ;)

Sometimes I think managers are more prone to exaggeration (if not outright lying) because they feel the need to 'prove' that they know more than everyone else.

Good thought, 1 that hadn't occured to me. But what can i say, my opinion of GW staffers is pretty low.
I sure hope for you guys DE gets a good update and gets it quickly, but this is far less than reliable as far as rumors go.

I can't think of any situation where Wayne has lied or given False Information about releases. Infact getting ANY information from that boy is pretty dang hard!

Now you're acting childish or you're really pulling our leg.
Either way... it is annoying. *raises eyebrow sceptically*

No, you're definitely acting childish.
Or at least trying to make yourself look important by making us believe you know something we don't. Which, is childish.

Some of them are a lot better than others :) In fact most of them are, as per usual it's the minority that give the rest a bad rep.

See, if you were having a verbal conversation with someone that slip would be acceptable. As it is, you're not - "Ooops I said too much already" when you have a delete key is just being annoying.
Besides, nothing in their schedule is set in stone. I'd be willing to bet that DE have appeared in the list a few times over the last couple of years.

I haven`t heard anything at all, but the Harlequins in the DE codex sounds very much a dream of mine. I hope that is correct.
Pirates? Oh, no the red corsairs will be the half of the codex? :p
I guess that would be an other good army to play (i mean pirates and not red corsairs), and maybe an extra "raid scenario" will be added just in the current codex but updated version to 5th ed.
Sounds really good... other army to pay for :(

I'd deffinatly agree with that. The managers and indeed staff I've worked with and known for many years are top class blokes. Unfortunatly you do get the odd couple that ruin the reputation of the others.

Deviating out of topping and risking my head(puts on power armor and helmet)but since ive seen this alot of times in this forum id like to c&c the fact about the supposed grip on info and rumors that get out of GW.Gw is an enterprise and if the know the slightest about marketing they would know that firing up conversations and rumors about new releases it just turns on ppls interest. What better to get your hands on a new release that you hear wild things about for about a year or more? Many new sm players have started wolves with the new release. So all iam saying is that GW feeds those rumors slowly till the reach their final announcement and the fans burst!
I would like to see a DE codex more than the rest cause they and the inquisition are the oldest dregs out there.

Agree totally. I'm still trying to work out why i reserved a copy of "Spacehulk". Its still in its cellophane wrapper, along with a couple of hundred quids worth of other GW stuff.
