Ok, so after a long and arduous search for my next army after lizardmen, I have decided to do bretonnians.
3 times now I have almost started them up, only to change my mind at the last moment. This time I have decided to jump in with both feet, since no one plays them at my store, and knights bound by honor and their code of chivalry has always been a favorite of mine.
here is the 1k list I am thinking about using.
Paladin
Grail Vow
Shield
Gromril Great Helm
Wyrmlance
Barded Bretonnian Steed
Battle Standard Bearer
Virtue of Duty
Sword of Might
Barded Bretonnian Steed
8 Knights of the Realm
Full Command
War Banner
8 Knights Errant
Full Command
Errantry Banner
10 Peasant Archers
10 Peasant Archers
3 Pegasus Knights
Gallant
I was thinking that the BSB would go with the Knights Errant and the Paladin would join the Knights of the Realm.
The lack of Magic Defense kind of worries me, but I think at this point a damsel is less effective than any other choice I might drop to get one.

I would combine the 20 archers into a unit of 15 with skirmish. Makes the shooting more effective, they are harder to kill and less likely to panic.

your right, if I switch to one big unit of skirmishers, they will be better suited to trying to take out fast cavalry with their 360 degree LoS.
How is this then
Paladin
Grail Vow
Lance
Birth-Sword of Carcassonne
Enchanted Shield
Barded Warhorse
Battle Standard Bearer
Gromril Great Helm
Sword of Might
Barded Warhorse
8 Knights of the Realm
Full Command
War Banner
8 Knights Errant
Full Command
Errantry Banner
16 Peasant Bowmen
Musician
Brazier
Skirmishers
3 Pegasus Knights
Gallant

Nothing?
I gather from the lack of response that it doesn't need any changes then? Because I was wondering about making the knight units 6 big (with characters) and trying to fit a third unit of either Errant Knights or Knights of the Realm in the list.
Any thoughts? At all?

hmmm.. maybe Bretlord is ill :p
yes the list looks quite good, with a few hard hitting cavalry and support, i guess in 1ooo pts 2 dispeldice wont be all that bad.
Good move on the skirmishers
pros n cons:
3 units of 6 knights and characters more units, they all have good hitpower, and you get to make devastating combined charges, but they are easier to flee with artillery casualties.
2 bigger units instead, extra hard hitting power. if you charge with these babies, nothing will hold ground!
both should make a good choice.
nope cant help ya

Not ill, (well I have a cold) but have been increadibly stressed and busy!
One thing I noticed at first glance with your revised list, is a lack of units and numbers, and I can see fairly obviously why. You have a lot of points on your characters and magic items. in total I worked out it is over 15% of your army on magic items, vows etc. each item is nice, but at this points values you can't afford to waste points. I would personally keep the Errantry banner, pretty much always worth it, esp in a lance of 9. The WBanner is also pretty good and usually worth the points, as breaking units is the key to brets. It is the characters where you could save points. For each, I would consider at this points not spending more than 25-30 points on one character. I just think you get more for your money elsewhere. If you dropped the Grail vow, the Birthsword, and the gromril great helm you have nearly enough points for a unit of Errant knights. I don't think those particular items are going to win battles or get there points back, and I would rather have the extra unit to bring in more attacks, manouver flanks, and generally more likely to win combats for you.
You with both characters have seemingly tried to make them a bit of a jack of all trades. This gets very expensive and isn't wholey effective. If you are going to go combat, you stand a good chance of taking out what you are fighting before it attacks back, if you are going defensive, yuo are planning for a slow slogging match, doing both can devalue the items you have purchased.
In general our items in around 25 points and under are actually the better items available to us.
As for the rest, I like big lances, and tend to always have 1 at this level, sometimes 2, but also like a couple of smaller units. that way you can out manouver and pick on smaller units, or if the enemy has gone for big units, there wont be many of them, so you can be patient and position to smack them from all sides at the same time.
Anyway, thought I would eventually get round to saying something on here!

I'll try to strip some of the gear off my characters. I think with the BSB though, that its almost necessary, without the sword he can't contribute in combat very well, and I think he is too squishy without the helm.
At such low points I want him with some decent defense, since losing him can easy spell the difference between levels of loss with the points from both the character himself and the additional points my opponent gets from capturing my BSB.
