Mounted

This competition is open to anyone of any skill. It is designed so that people can get positive feedback from their peers in a direct way from any and all.

This is a chance to compete for that most coveted of Prizes ‘Winner’ and to go into the hall of fame.
Check out the last winners here:
http://www.librarium-online.com/forums/painting/85847-lo-contest-hall-honour.html

The theme of this contest is ‘ Mounted ’

This is because the winner from the last round got to choose the theme.

I'll choose 'Mounted’.

Take from that what you will. I’ve got something in mind.....

Any queries about that, do post and I’ll try and help.

Closing date; 23:59 (BST) 29th November 2009

Contest rules.

People entering have one month in which to design, build and paint a single based model to the theme set. Members will be expected to post their pictures which will then be placed into a thread for voting. It is done so that people can improve their skills, and try out things. And purely for fun, there is no prize or anything, just the fun of it

1.) Models from any manufacturer are allowed, as are scratch built models.

2.) There is one month to each project.

3.) One base (any size) per entry... Multiple models permanently fixed to the single base are allowed. No armies on display boards though.

4.) Models painted within the time frame are looked upon favourably. (It is of course impossible for us to check). Please use this competition to come up with a new idea.

5.) Pictures can be no wider than 700 pixels (as per the normal LO rules).

6.) Maximum of two pictures can be posted. Single pictures of multiple views (montages) are allowed.

7.) The organisers of the competition have the right to refuse entry to any applicant if they feel it doesn't meet the criteria

8.) Voting. It is considered un-sportsmanlike to vote for yourself. You are voting on what you think is the most original, unique, clever conversion with the most groundbreaking painting techniques.

******

So just post your completed entries here before the deadline, and if you want you can post WIPs along the way.

Hopefully, there should be some wonderful entries to look forward to this time, as always.

FAQ:
1. Is it too late to enter? No it isn’t until the deadline above is reached.
2. How do I enter? Just post a link to a photo of your mini in this thread, preferably it should follow the LO rules for such things, as it is a bit of a hassle for me to resize stuff and re-host it, but I can if you don’t know how.
3. The Prize?! Get to choose the next theme!? How does that work? You tell me and I post it up, but it should be inclusive and interesting. For all the other participants, your prize is experience and fun.

Always just a bit too late, this would have been perfect for last month.

Oh well, I might do something but I doubt it.

The pics were a bit blurry so I ended up making a montage of multiple views.
Hope it stimulates other people to post their mounted characters/creatures.
It's a feudal knight model of gamezone miniatures.

Holy cr*p! Way to set the bar high.

Did you paint that in 3 days?!

Goodness. Looks like we have a competition on our hands.

Actually 2 days but i've primed, assembled it just before you posted the thread, I'm currently unemployed (i've graduated in september - stupid financial crisis ain't helping) so I've a lot of free time.
The yellow was a real pain in the *ss doing but once i found a good way applying it, it turned out great. Blue and yellow are a strong combination i could have added white but it would have been too distracting. I'm planning on doing a bret. batallion box with a friend of mine. I've mailordered the batallion together with this knight but it's still on it's way (they were out of stock).

Hmm, I might chip in. Would a high elf lion chariot count as mounted? Also, AE, mail me that model when you finish painting it.

I'd say so, but it seems to me that the previous winner left a TON of details out about what 'mounted' really means, so that means that you should feel free to stretch the limits!

I'll see if I can get something painted up for this, or if I even have models to do it... no promises, though!

Pshh, you'll be lucky, I did a whole load of work on him last (k)night and he's looking great. I'll get some photos when I can.

What he said!

Feel free to take it literally, or to do something slightly "outside of the box".

Well I had a Knight sitting about I wanted to paint - but restricting it to 'Empire Knights' would be sucky, right? :D

Uziel, that knight is top notch. Going to be difficult to beat with such an undetailed model!

Here be my entry..

Two things went wrong with this one..

1: I snowed too much on the model, thus obscuring my paint jerb..

2: The cork I used for the Rocks still had wine in it, and I'm guessing the white glue, water, and snow flock seeped it all out and discolored the snow.

Just a little bit too much snow - but it does look fantastically blizzardy!

Allonairre
November 6th, 2009, 20:44
Go back and green up the snow around all the glowing bits and that would look so ghostly and eirie, it would be awesome.

I like it though it looks like it has just been activatated after lying dormant for millenia.

I was originally going to paint an Empire Knight, but I had the model sitting around for a few days and had noticed how small the horse was. That kinda put me off! I found this guy sitting around, who I had converted to be a wolf-mounted Goblin Boss with the Brimstone Bauble & Wallopers One Hit Wonder, and figured I'd paint & enter him!

I had to use the not so good camera for pictures, but I thought I'd enter anyway. There are quite a few great entries!
