ok i was playing against a friend and this came up, although i do believe he is prob correct (as i dont play them) i think it is very stupid and what to check

In my shooting turn i had immobilaised his mono 2 times (the second time therefore counting as a weapon destroyed, reducing the secondary weapon by -1 im told)
I also got Crew - Stunned in that same turn on it - meaning it can't shoot or move

But the bit i question is he still then used his mono to summon troops to him.

Now in previous turns he told me he does this instead of using the main strenght 9 whip thing.

So here is my point
He says that the movement of the troops uses the energy or something like that instead of using it for the gun,.
Now if i have taken out the gun and its ability to move surely it cant use it for anything else?
The main rule book points to the veh stunned as all the troops have got out or confused and can't do anything so who is there to operate the power to move the troops to the mono?

sorry if that is a bit confusing but i hope you know what im asking

Your oppenet is correct. he did not do annything illigal, though you are right to question him.

Frist thing, you gotta remeber this is the aruebly the best tank in the game, that being said. The Monolith Can use all of Energy to do one of 2 things per turn. Summon Troops or Use it's Particle Whip Weapon. Both of these Are IMMUNE to Crew stunned, crew shaken, and Weapon destroyed. also Immbolizing it will not make it crash.

I think it's safe to say that it's a tank that truely as all of it's bases covered.

well to be fair to my friend it was prob a good thing it done so welland didn't die cos in the previous 5 games he used it it got destroyed the first turn it was on the board.

so he has finally seen its full effect

he's right. Sometimes i just think they should have just made the monolith indestructible, just to avoid the confusion.

Also, another argument you might run into. Monolith's cannot be glanced to death. -1 to the D6 rule technically means you could just go beyond zero. However, I believe it's more like when you reduce it by 6 weapon destroyeds, then immo, then another weapon destroyed it blows up. But yes, the monolith is a beast. The energy matrix (whip/portal) can never be disabled. It can even fire on deep striking.

By the way, the best way to deal with a monolith heavy list? Phase him out. My opponents ignore my monolith very often and focus on wiping my numbers out and it works very well. I have about 1500pts necron, and 500pts non necron in my 2k list.

he had 94 necs on the board in the 3K non Apoth game

I managed to kill about 55 of them but not enough - his lord was really what stopped me from phasing him out

so the mono can use the whip on DS turn - ow we didn't allow that lol

Well in a shooty vs shooty army, you might not be able to phase out as easily. But if you get his warriors into some serious CC where they lose by X wounds...they'll get SWEPT in a sweeping advance almost always! Just win by 4 wounds or more and you're almost certain to sweep him. INitiative being 2...sux bad!

I kept winning in CC against 20 necs but the lord was with them and he kept passing.

With others i done it but then the termis couldn't chase and he backed up his other ones with tomb spiders, and with smaller squads by this point if i did win it was only by one or so.
Im thinking lots of assult squads would be great against him
