Shining Spear, Spears

Well actually Lances, not spears. I am converting some Shining Spears using regular Guardian bodies and heads to give them the more armoured look, and regular jetbikes. Now the big thing I need is a good lance I tried making one out of a shurkien catapult and an Empre Knight lance but was not too happy with the result. So now I am thinking of just using High Elf lances straight up.

Is this a good idea or can someone suggest something better?

For the sake of all please don't use those fugly Guardian Jetbike bodies! Lances look cool but the only problem I can see is that Laser Lances and the Star Lance are ranged weapons also, not like rough rider lances for instance. Wouldn't bother me but may others.

Only idea would be to use any spare Bright Lances from any Falcons / Wave Serpents / War Walkers / Guardian Defenders you may have.

The tips from Fusion guns work well fro Laser Lance ends. Would also recommend using brass rod fro the haft of the lance as it will stop it from bending and snapping during transport of rough play. The flared hand-guard from the Brettonian lances is really good and would look cool at the base of the haft.

If you want them to look more like spears or pikes then maybe the heads from witch-blades and singing spears would look cool. They mightn't be exactly a ranged looking weapon then but who cares. It'll add a good effcet to the models.

Couldn't you use that spear you get in the DAvengers-box? Or perhaps it is a bit short.

Dire Avenger spear's is a good idea, they are a bit short though. Really looks like a spear not a lance.

The other suggestions are a bit to complex/expensive for me, but thanks a lot for replying.

I like to think of the laser lances as more of a power lance than a ranged weapon, which is why I'm thinking of the more traditional lance route. If the eldar can shoot a super powerful laser out of a big crystal, I figured they could rig something up to allow a short ranged energy discharge out of a lance.

I think the HE lances will do fine. Perhaps cut up some guardian bits (like those things supposed to go on their backs) and glue to the lances to make them look a bit more "techy"?
