Hello once more!
Here is my question today:
Which of the 8 types of superheavy tanks offered in the plastic kits from GW do you think is the best overall and why?
Personally I like the Stormlord the best. If for nothing else than the Vulcan heavy bolter. As well as the ability to place many troops safely inside. :)
I would guess the baneblade is the most balanced of them all. I don't really know for sure. I don't have any of the books. :-P

I *love* my Stormlord. It always earns it's points back in kill alone, let alone drawn fire.
The Vulcan Mega-Bolter is a great weapon, personally I have 2 Space Marine Dreadnaughts with 2xTL-AutoCannons ride in the back along with an Inquisitor + 2 Mystics, and a Librarian with Null Zone. Move within 24" of it and you're dead :D Expensive, but it usually kills about 1k worth of enemies at the very least. I also like to take Replacements as my Strategic Asset, so if anyone blows it up I can roll it right back on again (last time I did that they'd used two assets to kill it - the look on their face was PRICELESS)

I personally like the Baneblade. Cheap (well, relatively), bristling with guns, and able to deal with pretty much anything. While I will concede that it is undoubtedly not the best tank, I think it is the funnest to play with.

Hellhammer. It fits my army theme of cover save denial. I already use orders, Hellhounds and Colossi with great results so the Hellhammer is a natural fit at a reasonable price.

You can fit dreadnoughts inside a stormlord? By what miracle can this happen?

All super-heavy transports can take anything bar another tank in it's hold. Towards the back of the apoc book it's got a table to show how many slots each take up (walkers are 10)

It'shard to say which is the "best", because I haven't played with every tank against every army, however I beleive that my favorite two would have to be the Hell Hammer and the Storm Lord.
The Storm Lord can put out enough fire especially when it double taps the VMB, the Hellhammer can easily destroy enntrenched enemies and vehicles alike wth the hellhammer cannon.

The "Shadowlord" should be a Shadowsword, and there's nothing quite like a strength D hit.

Please remember to include closing dates on all future polls. No worries. I've gone ahead and added one here.

Shadowsword. A "D" blast template weapon. Kills alot.
I have a baneblade, baneblade with extra sponsoons, macharius, macharius vulcan and have proxied the majority of super heavies in my time.
D Template (and the lascannons and heavy bolters, and cheap (er.. ish) does it for me)

I'd take the Baneblade in lower points games.
The pie plate helps. A lot.
Higher up, Shadowsword. You need Destroyer weapons to take down the Titans, other Superheavies, and such.
Byt then, technically Eldar superheavy tanks are still superheavy tanks, right?

Overall the best is the baneblade in my opinion. Its not the best at any one thign but it can handle anythign. The other superheavys are suitably geared towards a certian task and although they can handle other tasks its not what their meant for.l
For me the baneblade wins.

Like some people it is hard to say what is the best, but even thiugh i have got a baneblade i voted for the stormlord. Ok i might not be everyones favorite but the fact is it is CHEESY because who would'nt want a 10" template weapon that ignores all cover saves, alebit at short range otherwise- bye-bye marines!

Baneblade in 'small' apoc games. Sure its main gun is nowhere close to as powerful as others, but it is in a turret. This can be immeasurably useful in 'small' games.
Shadowsword in large games due to its lovely, lovely weapon.
