MOTW ranged weaponary or not

basically i was just reading another thread inthe army list section and someone saidyou cant use ranged weapoanry with motw my take is you can as it only states war gear does not affect cc attacks qoute below

a model bearin motw has the rending speacialrule in cc further he replaces his usual atttack with d6+1 these are made with claws teeth and not affected by war gear

no where does itsay he cant use ranged weaponary

thats the way i read it anyways

From what I understand it doesn't mention anything about shooting weapons so it would only be close combat weapons.

As to your question, I would agree in seeing no reason they cannot fire a weapon (special or otherwise), as the restriction only applies to special CC weapons.

He can still fire his ranged weaponry, but they are not rending - only his cc attacks are (with some restrictions).

regarding my punctuation and grammar my keyboard is buggered hence the random letters or no spaces also as im not at school i now have a hoice to use commas and full stops and to be honest i cant be arsed hence the big gaps so its easy to read

I agree that MotW bears no effect on a models use of ranged weapons.

i do see the point but as stated my key board is not in the best of health thats why i split the post up into easy to read bits

and i know its bit anal but i hate people who are younger than me and dont even spell english words properly

Yes models with MotW can use ranged weapons, only an idiot would read it as they can't.

To really drive home the abilities that MotW gives, and the shooting that they are still able to do, take 5 Wolf Guard, give one MotW, put him in Terminator Armour, swap his Power Weapon for a Storm Shield, and his Storm Bolter for an Assault Cannon.
Voila, 4 shots with Rending at range and d6+1 attacks with Rending in CC, a 2+/3+ save and a very bad attitude. The only downside is his 78 point cost.
