Certainly not before March...

I'd say April at earliest, probably May-Jun, Jul latest.

These're educated guesstimates made according to what little information could be gathered from GW staff from their own forums, previous knowledge of what GW sneak peeks tell us of the schedule regarding new projects and the Diamond Previews retailer catalogue.

Well there was talk of the new minies on another forum, but GW killed the topic.
I posted a topic here and that got killed so can't mention it again.
However I will point out that you should start saving your pennies since you ARE going to want to buy the new modelssss (plural as in a lot) ;)

Rule-wize I have absolutely no idea.... I just hope stealers will be playable again.

I have a very good resource that said the targeted release date is May. Obviously, I can't tell you who told me that or they would get themselves in a bit of trouble with GW. He said, that is subject to change as with any of thier products.

Because of this information I have halted on purhcasing anymore Tyranid units and I am now starting an Alaitoc Eldar army. The problem with that is I heard the Eldar codex is next after Tyranids :(

That's ok, I'd guess that the Eldar Codex is going to take a while to come out and I think my Eldar models will still be usable anyways. Wish I could say the same for Tyranids. From what I understand Gaunts won't change much if at all. Warriors and Raveners will get a work over stat wise and I hear the Ravener models are being worked over.

We've all heard about the Mega Plastic Carnifex. Hopefully they have 2 different Carnifexes in the rulebook so I can stick to the fluff and still use my small Carnifex. Maybe have a lesser and greater Carnifex. The lesser one would be a Carnifex that hasn't morphed into it's greater form yet.

Rumors of another HQ unit is floating about. I heard they are redoing Zoanthrope models. That kind of sucks for me because I actually like the current ones with the big heads and little bodies. Oh well. As long as they dont give them big musclur bodies I will be happy.

As we all know, practically no one uses the mid range of Tyranid models such as Warriors, Lictor and Raveners because they are expensive point wise and they die all too easily due to the crap toughness and bad Armor saves.

I'm dying to see the new codex ASAP. Granted I have 3 wins and a draw under my belt, it's very disheartenong seeing your warriors get insta killed by every long ranged weapons out there. I think it sucks seeing an HQ unit such as warriors die from one hit even though they have multiple wounds . I hate the instakill rules :realmad:

I dont get it... u are purchasing Eldar because their codex comes even later than may?

All the Tyranid models will be usable.
You can still use the ancient carnifex/H.Tyrant model now so why not then.
Some might need conversion work to use new stuff that might be in there but in general EVERY MODEL is usable.

Well he has quite a number of heads u can chose from so conversion work is easier now. and as I said u can use any of the older models... what is this obsession of urz with old models=can't be used? :)

I still use ROGUE TRADER marines in my current tourney-legal armies FFS!

let's just say zoanthropes will be "brainier" ;)

yes you would rather build an Eldar army as u said ? :)

I think it sucks seeing an HQ unit such as warriors die from one hit even though they have multiple wounds . I hate the instakill rules

Warriors ARENT a HQ choice... the HQ warriors u might be referring to are Tyranid guard and they have T6 and 2W which means they cant be instakilled :)

Warriors granted are useless and I never use them... however if u play vs a lot of heavy weapons just dont use them... use Tyrants/Carnifexi and Guard...

A Tyrant armed with 2 Venom cannons with 3 guards need 10 Las-cannon shots to die :)
And they spew out 6 Venom cannon shots per turn...

Tyranids rock if u use them properly....
I've just come back from a 1500 mini-tourney and I faced quite a few shooty armies... imagine the look on the TAU players face when I layed out 120 guants,3lictors,a carnifex with 2 VC+guard and a flying Tyrant with 6 VC shots per turn... those hammerheads never even got a chance to fire :)
Or the look on the Iron Warrior player where my carnifex's VC instakilled his Deamon Prince :D (tiiihiiihihihi).

Tyranids rock the cosmos! :)

Tanglethorn is just very adamant about WYSIWYIG rules. I personally will probably sell one of my Fexs on ebay when the new ones come out, unless the rumor about you being able to field them as Elite choices as well as HS choices is true, in which case I'll just be tearing some arms off and remodeling them.

But sgel has a point Tangle, any and all GW models ever produced for WH40K are sill legal to be fielded (unless of course there are no longer any rules for them, such as Squats). Just because a new model is available does not negate the usablity of the previous model. A friend of mine hates the sculpt of the new Marine Dreads and only uses his Rouge Trader Dreads (the ones that came with a sculpted marine in the fetal position)

P.S. Warriors can be any of the following FoC types:

HQ
Elite
FA
HS

Depending on their weapon configuration. They are the most versitile unit in the Tyranid army.

it's a pity that they suck so bad. that's the one thing they shoud change, make warriors much harder to kill. it's seems all you have to do is point a bolter in their general direction... and they fall over dead. not exactly brilliant for big scary monsters.

--- Not quite correct... You may freely use the Squat models if You want to. As long as the model is a GW model, You use up-to-date GW rules (like the IG or SM Codex) and the models can be considered to be WYSIWYG, they're perfectly legal.

Thus You could make an army using Squat models and SM rules, and there's absolutely nothing anybody could say to You even in tournaments. If no current rules for a specific army exists, use the current rules which most closely resemble the original in spirit!

1. GW models
2. GW rules (current edition)

If these two match, there shouldn't be any problem even when using older models.

You can take a dead cockroach and use it as a Norn Queen. The problem is getting your friends to let you use it.

I was reffering to using Squats as Squats, but you are correct as well.

So, the Eldar Codex, when is that looking to be released? If it's after Tyranid and Alien Hunters, we could be looking at 2006 right? Oh please be sooner, I can't wait.
