ive heard from a staff member of GW that the pheonix lords are being discontinued
oh no there the coolest i dont even do eldar i was planing to in maybe a year but oh no

Maybe because no one uses them and I think its shame to put rules to such ancient and powerfull Eldar characters.

They should stay in the fluff as mastodonts of great deeds and wisdom.
Then if they make new models for them, I hope they make good rules ot justify them :D

i heard something about them being replaced by aurtachs (like master of the banshees, or master of the dragons. check epic, they have them there)
as either HQ or special characters.

yeah but the only reason they dont get bloody used is because GW wont let people use speacial chars in store

autrachs upgrade to there desegnated pheonix lord for like 100 pts
and u only use them in 2000pt battles or more

They are not necessarily ancient. They are just heroes of their aspect that done the equipment of the phoenix lord. Right? The way I picture it the name Fugen or Jan-zar comes with the job, and the true original phoenix lords have all fallen in battle only to be re-born within the body of the new champion.
At least that’s my take on it.
I wouldnt think GW would git rid of them, perhaps stop producing the models for a while and then when the new eldar book comes out release some new models, who knows.

Phoenix Lords seem way to weak for what theyre supposed to be... but they shoudlnt be discontinued, they have been with the eldar army list for SOOOO long and don't deserve to be discontinued!

Actually the PLs are basically a suit, the occupant is an eldar who put it on. The PLs are not mortal and cannot die (Till Ragnarok? End of the World), the suit murges the new wearer's spirt and memories with it's own previous occupants. Once done the newly reborn person is then the PL.

IIRC, it's been a while since I read any eldar fluff.

maybe they should just get more "fluff." i mean, you never hear about them that often, and look at marneus calgar. many things relate to him, and people know his place in the warhammer 40k universe. people want to use him because he seems to be more "full of it" than phoenix lords, in that he has more background.

I think it is comical that Mugan Ra has armour covered in skulls to mourn Altansar and now it is back. So that does make him look rather stupid now...

i thought he was the last surviver of his crafter world that was eaten by the warp and just took the armour of his shrine

The pheonix lords are good because they are not uber powerfull, my brothers Chaos lord killed them in an arena of death competition and he had only spent about 60points on wargear. I don't see why they can't be used in normal games just with a 1500pts limit.
