Ok I got an email today from ebay that they are once again raising thier rates. I post this message here since I do buy a lot of GW stuff on ebay.
The question I have is since ebay can raise rates so easily are there other sites that do not charge as much? Are there swap meet kind of sites that you have experience with that work just as well as ebay?
I mean if I can avoid giving 8% of every auction to ebay plus more if I use pay pal I am interested.

E-bay seems to be a monopoly in my experience. At least for the UK, anyway, I've been banned from ebay and as a result can't sell the things I used to until they unban me.
I guess it's hard for rival auction sites to emerge and be successful if ebay already is the dominant one.
Maybe if they become really unreasonable in their fees a rival who is more reasonable will be able to become a success.

From what I gather on E-bay's price increases you will see only a nominal fee to a listing price especially if you use the gallery, or buy it now features.
the raise on final value fees from 5%-8% is for eBay stores and not regular auctions. So unless you mostly buy from eBay stores the prices shouldn't change too much.

We have like 2 different auction sites in Sweden.
I don't know about you, but we don't have to pay anything to put up an auction or make an account. Only if we want the auction to be put on the frontpage and stuff like that we have to pay.
