I was about to file a report on that guy's topic, but it seems his arse was kicked already. Kudos to whoever did that. This hobby requires much more sacrifice than El Nombre would care to believe. I know one friend who has two 40k armies, a Fantasy Battle army, a BFG fleet, and was my Dungeonmaster in our D&D sessions, and he had a steady girlfriend. This contradicts one of the things that El Nombre said, and I can contradict another by saying I am as skinny as a toothpick. Clearly, this man has no knowledge of our hobby whatsoever and is blinded by ignorance.

More likelly he is exactlly what he was bashing us for. Secondlly, I have met more married people while playing this game then I ever have before. Not in sports, not in other hobbies and most certainlly not on the "cool" clubbing/bar scene.

The only conclusion is that he is fat, 45, living with his mother and is very bitter about it.

EDIT: and yes, I filed a report as soon as his first topic came up. I am sure there are people like those he was speaking of and there is no reason to bash them for their circumstances or life choices. This is just a hobby after all. What we all like to do in our spare time.

EDIT#2: Thought you would all like to know. I caught El Nombre reading this thread. Looks like he got our telling off. Feels good.

I enjoy it, and am looking forward to the day when my army and I become symbiots. Call me weird, but just getting in tune with your army to the degree that you know exactly where and when a squad needs to be two turns in advance just sounds like so much fun. It beats endless Final Fantasy playing, since it requires you to socialize. This is more than just a game. It is a form of art, a source of friendly humor, and so much more. I know I laughed when a friend joked about my Eldar fleet by pretending to issue the Come to New Heading special order and "rotating" a ship 360 degrees then saying, "OK, why did we do that?" Of course, only three people got it, myself included.

It doesn't happen too often, but occasionaly you will find some weirdo who spends his time going around a forum and saying things like "your're gay" and "you live with your mom. Ha ha." They aren't that funny, so I don't see why they do it. :huh:
