Epic/Warmaster sized LOTR, i can't see it catching on can you?

Not really, but then again I said the same thing about the first LotR game so...

Because it might get older types buying (and therefore paying for the license!) Tolkien GW games! It is obviously aimed at the aging LOTR players - the 14+ year olds who've been with the Strategy Game for four years or so, and want another challenge, to keep them buying stuff (cos there's little left they can do with the LOTR books) - and also a way for the older guys who sneer at the whole LOTR game to pay a bit towards the pricy Tolkien licensing.

Think accesible Warmaster (not that Warmaster needs it), something that works out the box.

The only problems I forsee is -

Dumbing down (much as many 40k and WFB stalwarts acuse LOTR of being)
Having some monkey make the models (the angry beaver that is Beorn, the 'god knows what' that is the Smaug model)
Some idiot who doesn't know what poetic license is (Storm Giants? Weren't they just some form of colourful description of how the lightning was playing across the mountainside? The stupid ass big Bolog alike begs to differ, even though it's a cool looking model...)

I can see this either working really well, or falling flat on its face. If it works, it's going to work well as it will have to have all the right components to overcome the older gamers suspicion. If it isn't, it'll die where it is now.

ssh you musnt tell people that!

Anyways, the game looks..alright tosay the least. Ive never really had fun with the LOTR game, as it is kinda dull for my liking. Mabye this will be better, all we can do is wait.

I would prefer to play this than the LOTR game as being able to do massive battles would be better than the skirmish games that LOTR gives.

I agree, but being better than LotR doesn't really guarantee anything. ;)

While the full sized LOTR is really poor, this game looks like it might be quite cool! If they did Warmaster versions of teh films you could properly recreate the massive battles that take place, instead of using their frankly crap skirmish rules for 28mm
