It seems the next online campaign is actually going to be a LOTR one. I haven't seen a thread around on it so sorry if it is old news, but it looks to me like they are preparing for the next online campaign to be LOTR rather than fantasy or 40k.

Here (http://thewarofthering.uk.games-workshop.com/default.htm) is the link to it. You can't register until May and it is this year. I bet it will end up much smaller than any of the other campaigns...

Smaller yes, but probably much more fun and much more fair than any of the other online campagins, especially since we all know how it ends ^_^

I'm tempted to start a hobbit battle company actually...

How is it more fair if we know the outcome from the start? It wouldn't even be worth doing, it would simply be watching events unfold while battles you posted had absolutely no effect on anything. Kind of like SoC. :P

I think that is a factor that makes it not work, with warhammer systems anything can happen because the story isn't written yet. With this, the story is already written so only one thing can happen.

There are going to be three smaller campaigns, one for each game. War Of The Ring, Lustria and Ultramar.

Whats an online campaign? Is this something different from the summer campaign? Sorry if this sounds like a NooB question I just don't know what you're refering to.

I think it's a bit rich to say that the other campaigns aren't scripted. GW can't risk having campaigns go in any but a few carefully chosen directions, so the only difference here is that we /know/ the final outcome.

Well, this campaign will be even more predictable then all the others. Maybe get Tolkiens grandson to write fluff? Beats Gav ;)

Well wicked, the story lies hidden in the name. The campaign actually reflects the war of the ring. There will be special scenarios as the fellowship progresses, special events concerning the great battles etc.
The story is given, you just get to be part of it.

That would be good, i know of Lustria but I don't know if it is an online campaign or not...

Lustria is a summer campaign, nothing like SoC or Albion but will be part of the summer line up. This is stated in WD 302 (UK), so there'll be something around.
