With the arrival of the new eldar codex later this year the Avatar is getting a major revamp to the extent that I have been told by GW staff that it will be able to defeat any deamon that Chaos can throw at it. I was just wondering if this is likely to affect your tactics in how anyof you who use deamons/blood thirsters/ deamon princes against eldar opponents fight them as I can guarantee that there will be alot more avatars fielded against chaos armies when the codex is released.

My EC list wont change one bit just because of him.
Ill just shoot him abit more.

As long as they wont give him alot of shooting power or make him faster I dont see how he can become intimidating.

The best way to kill a WS10 beast is just shoot the bugger, hes so tall its hard for him to hide.

Wait, so the new Avatar will be able to beat a Bloodthirster?

That just doesn't sound right at all to me, fluffwise, aren't we supposed to be the daemon masters? So why should the space pansies get a better daemon than us, doesn't sound fair to me.

t'would be most excellent. he cost 80 points (LAAAME!!)

now maybe my nightbringer will fight something for more than 2 turns, eh?

(Y) he needs it. everyone should get a big, steaming, raving mad being of living metal/god-bits/warpstuffs/muscle etc :D

With the arrival of the new eldar codex later this year More like 2006, GW don't produce stuff that quickly, I mean the SM codex was out months and months ago, and we still don't have a expected date for Tyranids.
the Avatar is getting a major revamp to the extent that I have been told by GW staff that it will be able to defeat any deamon that Chaos can throw at it. Trust me, GW staff know very very little about what the big wigs at the HQ have in plan. The guys in the store are there for one reason - to sell you stuff.
I was just wondering if this is likely to affect your tactics in how any of you who use daemons/blood thirsters/ daemon princes Don't confuse daemon and Greater daemon, an avatar probably could kill a lone Bloodletter, but hes got no chance against a Bloodthirster.
as I can guarantee that there will be alot more avatars fielded against chaos armies when the codex is released.
I really wouldn't go making guarantees based upon a rumor from a guy who knows about just as much about the upcoming new rules as this community does.

At least (most of) the guys at my GW are honest enough to say that they have no idea about any of the new stuff until they get the pre-release books from HQ.

GW staff are no better informed (Ive found them to know less about whats coming than me) than the rest of us. Never listen to them.

Something doesent fit...

You said MORE avatars, that stands as an opposition to the "few" avatars fielded now?

I have seen only one Eldar player that dosent use an avatar and the only reason for that was that he dident paint it yet.

I think they meant more avatars as in more people will take them in their forces. I'll take the avatar so long as he has fleet of foot or something to help keep up wit hthe rest of the army. as for going toe to toe ith the chaos daemons, he should be able to hold his own, without being overpowered - he is a greater daemon of khaine after all. maybe then I'll take a court of the young king... mmmmm nice mate

In my knowledge, they are better informed than us. One mentioned that they get told about stuff around 3 month in advance, so they can paint up the required models, terrain etc to celebrate the release. I was buying some Wood Elf Wardancers (to convert into Harlequins incidentaly) and he asked if i really wanted them, because in the summer, they are releasing a new line of wardancers in far more dynamic poses, and that if he could, he'd have shown me them, but it would have costed him his job.
