View Full Version : Price Hike Again!

I heard some horrible, horrible news today.
On April 4th, GW are doing another price hike on all of their models. I recieved an email today from an independent stockist (NUgaming) telling me about it.
Worst of all, most of the sets from every army in LOTR, WF and 40k have gone up by 2 pounds in the UK at least. Abaddon's now a tenner! A goddamn tenner!
Here's the website with the price rises: PRICE RISES (http://www.nugaming.com/html/news.html#GWPricesRisesApril2005)
But bear in mind the prices displayed there are 10% cheaper.
I, for one, have decided to do some splurging before the rises, and then quit buying models forever, just sticking with my current three armies. Goddamn company's gonna price itself outta the market.
Anyway, thoughts?

...another price hike...
By "another" do you mean "the first one since 2001"?

If i remember rightly, the prices on codices were brought up just last year, twice i believe, from 8 to 12 pounds. Besides, it's not needed, the prices are high enough already.

I hate to break it to you, but they have hiked the prices since then. I bought the 2004-05 complete games workshop catatlog last Feb. and by mid-summer last year the prices in the catalog were obsolete. Check out Games Workshop website you will see things like the Chaos and SM battle set (not the mega force the regular one) has went from 100.00 USD to 105.00 US dollars.

I just don't get it. I'm sure Games Workshop is making plenty of money now, so I don't understand the initiative behind the price hike...

If anything It will just make me, a loyal customer, stick to the armies I already have and not purchase anything.

Which is what I am going to do.

Seems like the only way around it is to work for GW, i think you get a certain amount's worth of models at the end of each month... :(
