Hey, I just read on the front page that WHFRP is back.

I had no idea this was coming. Never got to play it before but I heard it was very good. Any oldies played it before? What can anyone tell me about how it worked/what the new edition may be like?

Inquisitor in fantasy maybe? Hopefully not.

It is legitimate roleplaying, not Inquisitor.

It's going to be an editted version combined with a bit of a rewrite of the original, so no one can tell you for sure what to expect.

I'll probably play it when it comes out, sounds interesting.

And if it sucks, there's alot of fluff in there probably ;)

OOHHHH I loved the original, the critical hit chart in the back was so sweet, and the descriptions were quite gory. I cant wait to see what the new one brings along with it. Way better system than D&D IMHO.

Quoted for the truth, however, I think it will be pretty good.

Aye never got into the last version; never got round to getting it and when I did it was all going out of production. But I have preorder my copy of the core book, character and first source book; could be a nice bit of fun.

Its suppose to be updated, so it's set just after the SoC. Maybe we find out the identity of Valten's 'slayer' or when he is dead...

Roleplay is going to have a hard to explaining why Karl Franz is not dead anymore. Or is it completely separate?

If you never got into it, how come you have a naked dwarf joke in your member title? (for those who don't know, the Naked Dwarf is a flaw in WFRP1 that makes some dwarf characters unkillable due to high Toughness).
And here's a quote from the WFRP critical hit table Your blow smashes your opponent's spine and abdomen, tearing muscle and shattering bone so your opponent falls to the ground in two separate pieces
Great game, WFRP. I'm just about to GM a campaign (hopefully).

It is? Never knew that, the joke behind my title is off of LO's Chat. Something happened a long time ago and I some how ended up naked... soo...

Bawdy - Well being as it's now under BL publishing I think GW are gonna try and get people more into it be bringing it up to date, ie everything is taken from the FB main game but then decends into it's own once it gets off its feet.

And the site for it and to preorder it (it's released on 29th March IIRC) is;

I for one, can't wait for the new system to come out, and finally in hardcover too :)
I played the old one a lot, but haven't gotten the time for it in later years. Of all the RPGs I've played (quite a few), I always found WFRP the most refreshing, and it has some really good campaigns, especially the Enemy Within campaign, probably one of the best campaigns ever for a RPG...

Naked dwarf syndrome was bad, yes, but you learnt to deal with it...

The good thing about WFRP was/is that it focuses more on roleplay, and setting, than hacking, had an easy system, for fast fights, and, while the naked dwarf is one thing, you couldn't get all powerful, which is something I really liked...try letting a group of 20th level D&D characters loose in a city; you'll need quite a few balrogs to annoy them, heck even one lvl 20 Monk in 3rd ed will suffice, whilst in WFRP, you only get so many wounds, and a few black orcs are still dangerous if you're experienced enough, so the players soon quit the habit of charging everything they saw ;)

On the bad side though, the old WFRP had often conflicting or non-exitant fluff references to WFB, such as a world map without Ulthuan, no Nagash etc...

Overall, really looking forward to this release, and I'm really hoping they tie it to the Warhammer world as we all know it this time :)

This is good. Especially because it dispels the rumors that Black Library is closing up
