Well looking through some of my older WD's (Not that old, only about 4 months) I saw in the mail order section the range of WHFB battallions. There was only the Empire, Orc, Khemri and Brettonian battalions there, compared to the 8 or so that the 40k guys have. Now this month there are a whopping 8 available for us fantasy guys as well. This spur of new battalioness has also prompted me into finally finishing my Skaven. I'd like to extend a thanks and kudos to the good folks at GW for expanding on their already kick a*s model range with even more top quality products! Its good to see that we *sorta* get what we pay for!
Now, I'm off to paint some more rats.......


On a side note the new HE heroes are looking absolutly bad as* too.

Yeah, it's great. Love those new plague monks, and you can't complain on cheaper rat ogres, although they need some heavy greenstuffing.
And those new wood elf models.. the dryads are a couple of my favourite minis. Infact, imma go check if those pics have been posted in the rumour section, we're pretty slow with pics around here :P

Kudos to GW for the expansion of plastic mini's in the fantasy section lately, realy helps when collecting a new army. I agree, the joins on the new rat ogres are attrocious, but that's easily fixed. Still, no complaints, as I now have an incentive to start my own collection of skaven. Oh well, looks like I'll be busy for a while......

Agreed, the new plastic regiment boxes are great, no wonder there's an explosion of skaven players of late! No to mention a much awaited high elf box set, that will be great too. And I think the new the mage with the phoenix type thing at his feet, the phoenix guard and lion guard commander models in the new range (the metals) are the most beautiful that I've seen in a long time, simply awe inspiring.

some of the battallion boxes are a good bargian, E.G. the ogres and skaven ones. But i wish they redid the O&G cause the orc error boys just plain suck a**, i'd rather have a another unit of orc boys or a unit of gobbies to be honest.

It is great to see Fanstay are getting as much as the 40k.
Also the Lizardmen battallion box set is quite decent as well, mmm saurus cold-one riders :) .

I've got to agree that the new high elf models look brilliant, as do the rumoured wood elves. GW has come up with some good releases lately, which I see as a good advancement. There was nothing wrong with the old mini's (i'm trying to be polite here, as I personaly think half of them are terrible [yet another understatement :p ]), but the new ones are looking realy good. I say keep it up :D

Wouldn't be surprised if you got your wish around December this year / Jan 2006 for the Dwarves... the plan from GW is to release some (much needed) new plastic dwarf regiment boxes.

Bought my first Battalion Box yesterday. It's a Bretonnia Battalion Box, and I have already assembled and Basecoated the Pegasi. Also bought another Bowmen Regiment Box, so I could field Skirmish, and normal Bowmen.

Love the new range, as the last ones I saw was when my brother played in 1994... No Kiddin'

A pity there isn't a Dark Elf battalion, i've been itching to start a DE army alongside my Guardsmen for a while now. Does anyone have any idea when a DE battalion might come out?

The thing about the DE is that they have a large range of miniatures in metals (or more precisely, there entire range bar DE warriors), meaning they need an update similar to what was done to skaven. I can't see this happening for a while, as the focus at the moment is wood elves, then dwarves.

I saw one of the new WE minis in person the other day!! The detail on these babies is awesome, far surpassing anything we currently have (Bar the real new stuff, like the HE heroes and such)
I can't wait for the WE to come out, Although I will never play them, It will be an honour just to look at them.
