The new Librarian minis look gorgeous.

Is the face stubble deliberate on the Devastator sergeant?

Is there a new Terminator Librarian sculpt?

What the hell is this!!!!!!

Either the entire of LO is playing a huge joke on me or I am going insane!!

You are the only one lol, I can see two good Librarians one bad (axe man sucks) and a Devastator squad that looks okay but not really exciting, and what the freg is that on the SGT backpack

December 12th, 2006, 20:16
Okay....It is strange, why do I see this?

Any Ideas?

Okay...It is fixed, what just happened?

Looks like a loading arm on the missile launcher and a targeter on the sergeant?

artificer
December 12th, 2006, 20:42
The targetter on the Sgt. looks like they simply stole it from a termie plastic sprue. It's also kind of a bummer that (at least from appearances) they didn't bother to replicate the "pointer" arm from the old metal/plastic devie squad in plastic. That was the best bit from the old box IMO :w00t:

The new librarian models look good.

Thery're probably some kind quasi-servo arm so that GW can further mess around with the WYSIWYG rules with there funny modelling.

Ewww...

Okay, the Devastators look fine, but why a multi melta? Why would they do such a thing? We want heavy bolters, damnit!

The new Librarians... eh, not really too exciting. I've never really liked any Librarian model aside from the Dark Angels Special Character (Ezekiel, or something. Can't remember the spelling.).

I'm also a bit annoyed that they'd give one of the Librarians a plasma gun. Yes, that's right. a Plasma gun. Not a combi plasma.

Why does GW insist on making models that are either impractical to use, or in this case, impossible?

The new Devs look fine, just hope the spures come with all the heavy weapons... the targeter thing looks a bit naff, would be a bit better if it were more integrated onto his backpack.

The Libraians are fine too, although the force axe dude looks a bit chaplinish for some reason but still good. And Firedrake28, the libby has a plasma pistol, not a full blown plasma gun. (Ahaha! I crack myself up!)

*looks closely at the top left libby* Heh, for a second I thought that laurels thing on his shoulder pad was an Ultramarines 'U'...

Whether metal or plastic, any Devastator Squads that come with a mixture of weapons will be trash. Who wants a squad with one of everything?

I have to agree that aside from Ezekiel and Tigurius, all other Librarian models have looked like junk. You'd think after 19 years....

I don't see the plasmagun. The Force Axe Librarian has a plasma pistol, but I don't see one with a plasma gun. My assumption is that you are looking at a picture that hasn't loaded for me, and my guess is that it is a DA provision based on their love of all things plasma.

Valerian

The targeter thing is just plain silly...the rest are well, marines with guns. Not setting the world on fire (in the metaphorical sense at any rate).

The only librarian I like is the one with the book - all the others are rather "Meh."

Roll on Codex: Green Marines!

hold up there before you pop something Firedrake :)

Here is the rumour - (shamelessly stolen from Warseer)

Info from my ever-reliable source...

The new plastic Devastator sprues contain eight heavy weapons, including two heavy bolters, two missile launchers, two lascannons, one plasma cannon and one multi-melta.

so you see, it's not all THAT bad ;) (if it's true)

NOW we're talking!

And I still say that the plasma pistol looks just a bit large. :P

If what you say is true(If your reliable source is indead reliable)with the eight heavy weapons bit, then that is just cool, makes it a little bit easier with weapons.I dont agree with that little targeter bit and that little arm on the back pack of the missle launcher, just looks well...stupid.
I like two of the new libbys,I got one of the current poweraxe ones,I like libbys, the one holding the book looks nice.

8 WEAPONS!!! Since when did GW get so generous with spare parts (i.e. Dire Avengers box)? That is more guns than you will ever need from that box...

I'm a bit confused. Didn't GW release a new devastator squad when the codex came out. It came with a pair of legs kneeling and I got that one. So why are they releaseing this?

Stella Cadente
December 13th, 2006, 03:01
Yeah but they like to make sure we waste as much money as possible on one thing before they bring out a replacement lol

Dreachon
December 13th, 2006, 17:54
because this is a complete plastic kit, not a plastic/metal combo

Jared van Kell
December 13th, 2006, 18:02
With none of the ensueing problems of trying to glue metal to plastic and getting superglue all over your fingers whilst trying to hold the parts together long enough for it to stick. A problems we have all encountered at one time or the other.

Not only that but now I can think about introducing other heavy weapons into my devestators. :)

This is awesome and well over due. But the question is, will those sprues be in the army deal box, or will they cop out saving plastic and only give us 1 of each. I hope they don't do that personally, a mixed dev squad is just annoying.

WHOA.

those a dream come true for me.

anyway, few things id like to point out.

a) notice the similarity between the arms of the devastator sergeant and the arms of the plastic marine commander (i.e. the straight gun arm and the power sword arm)? well i'd guess that means the sergeants right arm is interchangeable, and probably comes without the hand attached. ill bet theres an option for a pointing hand, but its just a hunch. i'm also undecided about the targeter, it would look better on a marine with a heavy weapon. meh.

b) the grieves of the devastators dont have the re-inforced girders of the old all-metal ones. that would have been very cool

c) no kneeling legs? i guess that means you only get them in the command squad box.

d) also there seem to be no helmets with eyepieces, which would also have been cool.

e) the librarian in the top left has a very small to invisible psychic hood i think

f) interesting that all the librarians are painted as DA. the chaplains werent all painted as black templars

i am pretty sure for the extra weapons, there will be arms, then you attach the weapons to them. seems GW'y to me. savvy?

pretty much, you would not be able to make more than 4 devs. because of lack of arms.

PAw
December 15th, 2006, 04:50
i think it could be either a Relic Psychic hood or it could be a new model of the psychic hood?
anyway. the prospect of enticing me back to making my Ironwolves... Must resist!..... For the greater good...... Must buy a librarian! <_< i hate you GW making me buy a Sexeh librarian model.

But really the models are Beautiful, i only wish i had these models for my SM army, i like Librarians and Devestors. anyway nice pics

December 15th, 2006, 11:13
if there is that many guns in a single boxset..... nah, still dont believe it.

must admit, i also think the lack of pointing sargeant is outrageous, that gave the devastator squad its cool factor...

"I have a big gun!"
"I have a big gun!"
"I have a big gun!"
"Shoot that bloody thing, see? over there!"

The Sarg targeter looks, um, to quote, "pofterish". cruel but fair.

the missle launcher has a big, huge, really bighuge backpack.... the multimelta seems to have, well, a normal one. any chance they were mixed up? mabey the melta is just a bad camera angle.

i like the book holding Lib, except the whole book thing. the book sucks. but it looks like a nice replacement for the older version Lib with the similar staff. still wouldnt buy any of them though, i'd rather spend the money on the oldschool, plastic, helmeted gretchin. cruel but fair.

ahhh, feels good to flame new models haha:)

December 15th, 2006, 11:53
I would get the librarian with the book however it looks like the book is not attached to the main body so it might be possible to remove it. :)

Does anyone when these guys are suppose to be on the selve? I so need extra heavy weapons for my list!

December 25th, 2006, 23:59
I see what they're doing..

it's to get you to buy 2-3 boxes of devistators...as apposed to buying 1 dev and 2 blisters..

The Dev squads will come with a HEFTY amount of firepower...but still not REALLY enough for what everyone needs...so the dev will cover 60% of the needs.....so this makes buying 2 50$ dev boxes more appealing instead of a combat squad or two and blisters due to the leftovers

I like the idea of the Devestators if they are coming with that many weapons, in edition thank god for a new librarian as i was dreading using the old ones. Has anyone heard any rumors about a new terminator one? Or am i sticking with my original plan of converting one out of the plastic terminator box?

That devestator box is also a dream come true for me... course i play chaos space marines and salamanders so i can use Multi meltas!

December 26th, 2006, 14:47
Most eldar vehicles give you a wide variety of weapons (war walkers and wave serpents). No reason marines can't get it as well.

EDIT: should probably read the whole thread next time. Just rebutted a point a few pages old.

AMEN...tosses you a cookie for that awsome comment....

and yes, what is the point of having a devie squad if the sgt. isnt pointing...how will they know what to fire at.....
SGT---" alright my brother marines, you have been praying and training for this day that you may ignite the holy and sacred weapon that you hold in your hands. now pray to the emperor that your aim is true and pray to your weapon so that its voracious soul may be unleashed......."

Marine #1... " ummm what do we fire at sarge???"

SGT... " you stupid fool!!! how long have you been out of the scout company !!!???!!!! .... you fire at what I am pointing at SHEESH.... these noob marines I tell ya .....-shakes head- "

Why are SMs getting new Devs....? Did they not JUST get some a few months back?
I mean, I could understand updating some old minis, but come on GW, focus on what we need... Not more SM garbage =(

Thankfully the terminator libby more than makes up for it.

Looking at the models closer, I noticed all the backpacks appear to have the same exhaust ports as a standard backpack. They just have something on top of it, or the loading arm attached on the side.

What I think is maybe they give you the 5 standard backpacks, and then some extra bits that are added to the backpack to make it the ones needed for the different weapons. This would certainly save on plastic in the box, and make it so you can make 2 for each weapon type easily enough.

Makes sense too! All the old models had that too... Isn't that backpack for lifesupport and snazzy stuff like ammo and grenades? But anyway I want my plastics and SOON! I'm almost done painting my other Devastators and I still have about half a squad of Tac. marines to go.

January 3rd, 2007, 17:11
You want more plastics? Even on the big models. The plastics don't show as much detail as the metal ones. I do like the plastic devastator models and librarians. I love the plastic Hq's because they are what makes my army run it's course.
