JvK artificer January 18th, 2007, 16:39 word is though, that "Fulgrim" isn't truly part of the linear Heresy story line, but one of the 'indeterminate number' of heresy themed books that covers specific off-shoot story lines in detail, rather than building toward the main story's finish.
Still can't wait for it though. knightofthewr January 18th, 2007, 20:28 yeah, I really am enjoying the series so far, but I am really looking forward to the closing trilogy. oh yeah  XenomarinesKiller January 19th, 2007, 02:04 two words: holy. crap.
this is awesome. i have been waiting for a bit, and i am impatient, NiteRabbit January 19th, 2007, 02:30 I have the feeling that Flight of the Eisenstein will be the last that we see of the linear Horus Heresy storyline for a little while as there is a lot of material yet to explore. My guess is that character studies will be done of the various Traitor Primarchs, or at least, those that are interesting enough to read about. It is fairly straightforward why some, like Angron, Konrad Curze, and Lorgar joined the rebellion, but there are some, like Fulgrim, Perturabo, and Alpharius, who are slightly more complicated. In the grand scheme of the Heresy, however, the timeline isn't disrupted much by Fulgrim: The Last Phoenix because it likely occurs at about the same time. Looking forward to it very much! Deltaguard1894 January 19th, 2007, 05:46 Well, First let me say that it is great to have the site back, and happy new year, christmas, hannuka, boxing day or whatever you may have celebrated since the last time i posted.
I picked up these books over the holiday season and let me tell you that I have thoroughly enjoyed all three entirely. I initially thought that the first, by Abnett was going to be the best and that quality would wane from there, but i was wrong. I enjoyed these books thoroughly and couldnt put them down (read the 3 of them in a week). Im looking forward to the FOE book, and agree with the sentiment here that after this book, the building towards the battle for terra will likely be delayed to explore other veins of the heresy. I would like to know how the battle between the wolves and the 1000 sons goes, and more importantly what went down on Caliban, rendering my favorite smurfs unforgiven. We KNOW how horus' gamble ends, but, if we could see not only that, but how the whole heresy played out, i think it would be better for the series, and to add a sense of completeness to the heresy that we cant get from the picture books.
I saw some local gamers that had started pre-traitor era space marine chapters lately, which was kind of cool. I would really like to see a horus and mournival conversion in their original luna wolves regalia.
I strongly urge everyone to read these books if you are a 40K, or Sci fi fan. artificer January 19th, 2007, 13:05 oh, and BTW: Fulgrim will clock in at over 500 pages!
:D That's one big book full of pompus purple marines:) furyofthegods January 28th, 2007, 10:35 i got to get them books anyways i was on ebay just a sec ago and saw another book from the series galaxy in flames so how many of the books are they planning to make ? minus_t January 28th, 2007, 12:50 How ugly is that dreadnought on 'Fulgrim'? Very, that's how.
Interesting to see the "old" Landspeeders on the cover though, confirms a lot of peoples assumptions.
Anyway, quite interesting to see what they're doing with this, as someone else mentioned, it'd be nice to read about some of the more shadowy figures of the Heresy, but I don't really see why they can't do the 'final' set of books now... I'm just impatient I think.
furyofthegods, there are 3 Horus Heresy books out at the moment: Horus Rising, False Gods, and Galaxy in Flames.
Flight of the Eisenstien should be pretty much a sequel to GiF, but after that we're probably set of into the world of 'spin-offs'.
-t. bilebeast January 29th, 2007, 02:15 I like the dread on the cover for fulgrim. very weird. I still gotta read Galaxy in flames. then again, I need a couple terminators.
why does money do this to me? furyofthegods January 30th, 2007, 12:16 ah cheerz i didnt know the third was out and two new ones thats good news Codicier_Korsai January 30th, 2007, 18:35 I must get Flight of the Eisenstein, and Fulgrim too, I shot through the Horus books in a matter of days, best books I've ever read! ^_^ minus_t January 31st, 2007, 09:39 I must get Flight of the Eisenstein, and Fulgrim too, I shot through the Horus books in a matter of days, best books I've ever read! ^_^
I think you need to read more... I'm not sure they're even the best BL books I've read.
NOT saying they're bad, quite the opposite, just that there are better ones out there, especially if you don't discount the millions and millions of non-GW books available ;)
-t. artificer January 31st, 2007, 16:59 Horus Heresy: Descent of Angels.
The Descent of Angels by Mitchel*Scanlon | The Black Library | Bringing the worlds of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 to life. (http://www.blacklibrary.com/product.asp?prod=60100181052&type=Book)
It's marked for Oct '07 (UK) release.
Nobody knows what it's about yet, but the three current speculations are:
1) The DA and Cypher. WAY out of timeline, since it technically didn't occur until almost the end of the heresy, but would tie in nicely with the new DA release this spring.
2) DA / BA, general spotlight on the two chapters.
3) (and my personal favorite) Isstvan V massacre. Since all SM are called "the angels of death" and descent could be a double meaning for the drop on I. V as well as the traitor legions spiral downward into chaos, this could work.
While I think the DA fluff is okay, they aren't my favorite chapter/legion, and I don't think a two-legion book would work all that well, so I'm HOPING that this book covers option #3, and continues the story off the tail of FotE. furyofthegods February 2nd, 2007, 12:23 [quote=artificer;869839]

You'd be thinking of Isstvan III. SLIGHT SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF HERESY ERA EVENTS> Isstvan V is where the 'rescuer' loyalists are set upon. This happens AFTER the Eisenstein gets word back to Terra that Horus has gone rogue and slaughtered all the loyalists at Isstvan III.
Also, word has come down from the Black Library publisher that DOA will be about the Dark Angels after all  furyofthegods February 2nd, 2007, 23:36 [quote=artificer;871032]
