View Full Version : Ravenwing Battleforce Jared van Kell January 19th, 2007, 16:24 This is the Ravenwing Battleforce that will be out for the Dark Angels. And to think all of this will count as just one troop type.

JvK artificer January 19th, 2007, 16:36 not a bad deal. It's a pity they didn't re-do the bikes though. I've never been too crazy about them.
I wonder if they'll do a Deathwing box too? Da Mighty Camel January 19th, 2007, 16:47 Cool, cool indeed. So, how much do you save with it? Jared van Kell January 19th, 2007, 16:56 Cool, cool indeed. So, how much do you save with it?
2 Ravenwing bike squadrons- £40
Ravenwing Landspeeder Tornado- £18
Spacemarine Attack Bike- £12
Total £70
Since the Battleforce is only £50 you make a total saving of £20, which is not too shabby in my eyes. 3 battleforces, a Master of the Ravenwing and a few other odds and ends and you have a 1500pt Ravenwing army for just under £200. Nice 8)
Hope this helps
JvK Da Mighty Camel January 19th, 2007, 16:58 Yeah that's very nice. The bikes and the Speeder are upgraded with a Ravenwing-sprue, yes? Because that means that if you want bikes and at least one speeder for any SM army, then this box will be a great buy. Jared van Kell January 19th, 2007, 17:00 Yeah that's very nice. Yeah that is very true. Combine this set with either a Dark Angels or Spacemarine megaforce and you have about a 1000pts right of the bat for a little over £100.
Hope this helps
JvK Stella Cadente January 19th, 2007, 17:27 That has to be the best Battleforce I have seen EVER lol, gonna get me one of them for sure RobtheGuru January 19th, 2007, 18:32 Ever since i seen the Master of Ravenwing i decided i was going to do Ravenwing. I think i'll get 2 of these boxes when they get released lol. Gman January 19th, 2007, 23:06 Yea I went gaga over this when I saw it on warseer. (glad LO is back up). It's probably the best deal GW has done ever, for any box deal.
3 standard bikes go for $45 so the 6 bikes is your $90 right there.
Then you have the attackbike and landspeeder tornado and ravenwing upgrade sprues for free. This is a $90 battleforce that gives you a complete, full troop choice, which can be deployed as 4 seperate scoring units if you wish. :D can't beat that.
I decided I'm going to do Ravenwing for my first DA army. Starting with two of these and of course a master. I love the new jetbike model, but I might just start with making his speeder version. It's noticed that on the raven wing upgrade sprue are bits to turn a standard TLS into the master. It has the TLAC and TLHB and the book for the hood, as well as other stuff. So if you pick up a single TLS you can make a speeder version of the MotRW from the sprue bits. Not a bad deal, much less then I expected to pay for a ravenwing army. cancersticker February 10th, 2007, 20:02 anyone know if this is going to be a legitimate battleforce release or if it's just a limited run splash release for the uk?
because there's no sign of it on the US advance order page and it's supposed to hit shelves the same time as DA book and battleforce...
and I suspect the new bikes are going to all be on one sprue a la the new pistoliers.. since they are coming out with a cheaper all plastic ravenwing bike box too Da Mighty Camel February 10th, 2007, 20:23 Well I can oder it here in Sweden so I guess it will be avaible in the US as well.
Welcomme to the forum by the way. ;) RobtheGuru February 10th, 2007, 20:33 I've got two of these babies saved for me at my local GW  Da Mighty Camel February 10th, 2007, 21:02 Hehehe, might be a good idea since it's such a steal (for GW-standards!). :D cancersticker February 11th, 2007, 09:13 thanks for the welcome camel, I'm a longtime reader but I don't really post.. maybe more now that my other boards members have collectively dropped half of their IQ I'll be a little more active on here...
btw, warseer has pics of the ravenwing sprues for anyone interested there was a topic on here about it that I found earlier this evening cadre_of_storms February 12th, 2007, 23:13 as far as i know the Ravenwing battallion is sticking around for good and yeah its an awesome buy i will def be adding a squadron to my angels of the covenant force.
just wish theyd fixed that damn landspeeder mould though Gman February 14th, 2007, 17:49 Although the battleforce is going to be a longterm item, it's being said that the cool Master of the Ravenwing on the jetbike, is going to be a splash release. So if you're like me and really want to use that version of him, get it as soon as it's available. The speeder version of him can always be put together using a speeder model and bits from the RW sprue.
I personally love that new model though, and it's what inspired me to build a RW army. Even though I won't be getting RW models and building the army until Summer, I'll be grabbing the codex and that MotRW soon as it's released. bilebeast February 15th, 2007, 00:08 The Ravenwing bike box is wiggid to say the very least.
If they're comin out with an all recon/fast attack box though, i really think they should start packages/forces like that but for different kinds of approaches to the space marines. For example, if the DA is very bikey based, and not just strictly for the DA, then another chapter's amoured strengths, useful to anyone who wants to build some tank support, would be another idea. cancersticker February 18th, 2007, 18:40 I think the main reason behind this release is that ever since bikes were jacked up from 7 US dollars to 15 over the course of the last few years there has been no cost effective way to buy them without going hungry here in the real world.. the new biker box rings up at 35 which isn't a steal compared to the old prices at 7 dollars a bike, but also comes with the awesome new ravenwing bits and the ability to put together much more dynamic models out of one box then the one pose plastic kit we've been forcefed up till now... the RW battleforce still isn't up on the US advance order page, so I think we're getting shafted on this one here stateside :(( Troszkowsky February 20th, 2007, 23:23 Ok, official word on US Release of this box is that it will be released March 26th, and will be on the US Store for Preorder by the end of this week. $90 as reported.
Figured I'd let you guys know as soon as I did.
-T cancersticker February 21st, 2007, 20:45 that makes me want to do a happy dance :w00t: Davesnothereman February 21st, 2007, 20:55 One ravenwing sprue updates three bikes.....and much much more.....no new bikes. RobtheGuru February 21st, 2007, 20:57 My local store is getting stock in this week and it may be possible for me to get some early  Ezekiel1990 February 21st, 2007, 21:19 I will probably get a Ravenwing BF if I get more money later on. Right now the regular DA battleforce is way better and I only have like $120 so I'll be putting my money into that and the codex.
If I win the local painting tournament (free battleforce box), I will definitely get the Ravenwing Battleforce. I need to learn to do non-metallic-metal... anyone who doesn't mind helping me PM me!
Oh and my local store gets stuff way early (they've had the DA codex for about a month now) and the battleforces are going to be on sale this weekend, which is a week before the official GW release. I just hope they don't get completely sold out. RobtheGuru February 21st, 2007, 22:15 I will probably get a Ravenwing BF if I get more money later on. As far as i know most stores get codecies well in advance of the release date and usual end up with the boxsets a few weeks before. It just depends where you go lol. Anyway, its nice to see many people interested in the Ravenwing. RobtheGuru February 24th, 2007, 21:05 I got my stuff earlier. There is plenty of extras in the box. Also I got the codex and am more than happy with it. The attack squadrons are amazing. The fact you buy one unit and they can actually count as 4 seperate units is amazing. The best part though has to be the fact you can take a Land Speeder Tornado with the attack squadron. I got mine the other day. It is indeed a very nice set- the upgrade sprue is superb. Apparently it is a limited release though. Von_Smallhousen March 2nd, 2007, 13:08 I have mine orderer for the 3rd. 3 Battleforces + Samael = 1500 point army that can be accross the board in a single turn!
Bike squarons will look like this:
3 Bikes in Each with Vet Sgt with Power Fist, Flamer, Melta
This will be x6 with all battleforces.
All the attack bikes with have multimeltas. Troszkowsky March 2nd, 2007, 14:46 So, should we assume this comes with more than 1 Ravenwing Sprue - or not? To only get 3 of the sets of Ravenwing Accessories (the bike poles, winged fronts, etc.) would not be nearly as cool as the art depicts of it. I would hope that at least 2 would come in each of these Battleforces of six bikes - and an attack bike. I hope to confirm this with folks who have seen the contents of this set.
Thanks in advance.

Apparently it comes with 3! That's plenty for the bikes, the attack bike and a couple of other bikes you might have around. There's also a techmarine type head and shoulder pad on the sprue which is cool. There's so many little bits of Dark Angelness on the sprue that the bits from this battleforce should be sufficient for several tanks and dreadnoughts too. Isn't there a picture somewhere? I'll post one if there isn't. Troszkowsky March 5th, 2007, 04:06 3?!
I have seen the sprue in White Dwarf (an excellent shot of it worthy of a rescan. ;) )
I love the champion-looking head. Will be on my Master of Ravenwing's Speeder I plan to make with this once I get my hands on it. That will even give me almost enough banner poles left over for the few bikes I have without the triangular paper Ravenwing banners.
Thanks again.
