Ok Ok, there are plenty of rumors out there. A few months back I got wind that Chaos would be getting some make overs and lately I've gotten some new that nothing is going to happen for a good long time. I'm currently interesting in starting a Thousand Sons army but I dont really wanna get one started if improvements are comming out or even new TS models (which I'd LOVE to see)

Soo, can anyone tell me....Is it worth waiting or should I just get ma stuff now and worry about it several years down the road?

We can't sadly, nobody knows what's gonna be next adn those that do know keep quiet, there are however strong indications coming that chaos will see the light of day this year.
AS for collecting the army, you can easily start already with, the current models won't become out-dated so your basic troops are still a valible choice later.

If you're going to start Chaos, I'd recommend starting out with Black Legion/Chaos undecided first, just to get an idea for Chaotic mechanics.

There shouldn't be any problem starting that now.

Chaos are good now, and there's a strong chance that they'll remain good too. Chaos is one of GW's greatest cash cows, so I can't see them being ruined.

Basically, it's safe to start Chaos pretty much whenever. Even if you do commit to current models only to have new ones released there's ALWAYS weirdos on Ebay that'll like the older models and so you can really cut your losses.

lol I've this very same dilema with gettiong a new computer... should I wait or buy now. But I can tell you that there's ALWAYS something better or newer to wait for. So if you're intressted in starting to play with Chaos then do it! So if they make rule changes they will most certanly not make any really big changes (look at Eldar, they've got a very big remake but every old model is still playable).
The only ones that will wait until GW re-release Chaos again would be those that are on to modelling and painting, waiting for the acctuall models. If you're that kind of guy that plays for fun and don't take modding and painting that seriously I'd say go for it and start play Chaos.

Yeah I guess, its just I'd really like to see the thousand sons models get redone. To me I think they could use some improvement and look to me like they havent been touched in many years. At $40 bucks a pack its just some thing I hate taking a fall on. Be advised I'm only 17 and don't have all that much money...even though..heh...I got 3 armies and a fantasy one...selling necrons if anyone's interest XD

I personally would wait - you have 4 armies to play with. Are they all finished (painted)? Maxed out their options?

Having 4 armies is not equal to beign ready for a 5th one. Not trying to be rude, but USUALLY people with many armies have none that are painted to a good standard.

I myself "finished" my WH and was going to look into a second one 9Tau, Crons or Chaos), but will wait till Fall season - many people say that a Chaos Codex will come out in time for Xmass shopping - I will decide than what I want to do ;)

Well to help pay for the Chaos I'm selling off my painted necrons (which so far I've made $50 from selling some immortals and destroyers) and my nids are pretty close to finished. I just need some magnets for the fexes though I may expand them one more battleforce.

As for the sons I'm looking into an already made army. The real concern for me is new models. Personally I really want new TS models, a new codex doesnt bother me much.

Job/money or not..40 dollars a pack for a squad of normal marines is alot....However if you consider you're only paying 5 dollars for the "custom job" those marines have....It aint bad I suppose...

Thousand sons def need some new models, plague marines are fine, slaneeshy's are cool too...khorn could use some new heads...their lacking in that department....(but fantasy makes up for that)

but yeah TS need some help

If you're really into converting use the fantasy Chaos warriors. They look very good and their armour looks "kinda" like power armour standard, they're all plastic so cuting and such won't be a problem. You'll certainly end up with a very special army that isn't like any other out there ;) The only negative is that it'll require lots of time and money :P, but if you're selling your other armies I'm shure you can afford it.

So if you start with a Black Legion/Chaos undecided when you wanna move onto a real chapter can you merge them?

Strange to hear peole coming down hard on the TS models, I think they are amongst the best looking models around. But still, taste is so different... I guess I would be one of them who'd still pay for them on e-bay, unless the new models (if they are to be) will be something really extravagant.

Whenever you're ready. Typically, you'll probably amass a load of different type of units which you can switch around and play as you please.

Black Legion is the most flexible army in the game.

So.. move one when you're ready. Play with basic marines, until you figure out what your style is: Blast with las cannons or smash wiith powerfists?

Then you can specialise once you know the direction you want to go in.

It's a minor point, but Chaos don't have 'chapters' unless they're fallen loyalist ones.

We have mighty Chaos legions which are roughtly the size of 10 chapters. :)
