I don't quite understand why the front page is so messy when we used to have such a nice simple and easy front page here on LO. There is commercials, a wealth of information and useless headlines.
The other thing is the articles section. I can't even figure out how to navigate the articles section, even less find a list of articles. Perhaps I am no navigator, but still, there must be others like me. I saw all these things a while ago, but then the site was being rebuild, so I thought I would give it some time. Time has went by and now I am getting rather fustrated, as I accually want to contribute with some articles, but can't figure out what we miss, and where I can do better then the tactica already in place.
Please change the front page and the articles section!

The frontpage is not a mess, all the categories are listed on the left side with the latest articles shown. Click the category link to be taken into that category

That is true, but then again I can't seem to navigate the Tactics & Strategies (http://www.librarium-online.com/forums/../?c=118) section for an example. I also know several articles which I know to be there, but I can't seem to find manually. All in all it seems very hard to handle. Am I the only one feeling this, because if I am, then I understand why it looks like that.
Also I see all kind of Irrellevant new, such as "Humidity aids California wildfire fight, but brings lightning (http://www.librarium-online.com/forums/../?c=118&a=1056)" and somthing about G. W. Bush.

well, i agree, it's not a transparant layout as it is... not to offend anyone, but it could be clearer, the ad's could for instance be a different colour and/or size.

the headers (=Tactics & Strategies for instance )could be a lot bigger, making them stand out more, or the background behind the headers could be a contrasting coulour.
By doing this the page will be more defined and divided up.

But then again i'm a bitch on details like that, i'm a webdesigner after all :ninja:

Im not offended. The reasong you dont find everything is because its not been moved from the old CMS yet. The ads link colors does have the same colors as the rest of the frontpage to blend into the design. Thats a common way to add adsense into site design.

not to bring up an old dead topic, but i felt quoted that would make me feel better. This makes total sense to me, on the old LO, i saw hundreds of articles, and now when im in here, and navigating through any of the sections, i find that staying in just ONE section . ie. 'tactics and strategies' to be increasingly difficult. Maybe i am missing something, but when i clicked on tactics and strategies a while back i got a headlined article, that didnt even have to do with that topic, and i got 'other headlines' and none of them seemd to be the same, and i got 'other stores' with only one thing 'A Tactica –Assassins and their correct...' and when i went to that link, at the bottom, it says 'other articles' in which barely any if at all have tactics & strategie articles... at first i just thought it was because Hack thing that happened a while back and or server repairs so i didn't say anything, but now im growing increasingly frustrated trying to navigate through. I understand that a lot of articles have yet to be moved over, but once they do, i dont think this will change the hard navigation that is here now.

my suggestions:
Only have a headline on the left hand side of the screen that corrosponds with the section i clicked on 'ie tactics & strategies' that way things dont seem so mish-mashed so to speak.

make the 'other headlines' on the right side only have headlines that deal with the topic of discussion in which the section u are in deals with (again, IE. tactics & strategy)

Remove the 'other categories' part at the bottom left... If people wanted to see other categories, they would have clicked at the top on that specific category in which they desired to be brought to.

Where it says 'other stories' in which the ONLY place i have found articles that belong in the appropriate sections, actually list more then one story, infact, with the room you created by deleting the 'other categories' section you can actually have a scroll type application or whatnot where people can scroll through all the other topics in the categorie. (such as my examples earlier of Tactics & strategy)..



those are just suggestions that i pray to God will be implemented soon... Basically, the reasons i hope this is that im sure im not alone when i say, "i become increasingly frustrated, when i click on something that says 'tactics and strategies' and the page that comes up only has one thing related to the heading, and the rest are of OTHER topics and headlines that dont really relate at all" Of all things, im not trying to be a jerk, im just trying to list some things i see that could use some work.

Thanks. The sub sections are supposed to show just relevant articles, but right now there are a lot of "placeholder" articles that I will remove now.

by the looks of it, a huge improvement blackhat ^.^ looks a lot better!! now all we need is more articles in each section :P haha :P

I know the subsections looks pretty boring now, but if we can add more stuff into them Im sure it will be good. :)

Perhaps we could give out something along the lines of a subscription status for a month to those that contribute well written and liked articles? We'd have to set up a criteria and someone would have to be a judge of how good an article is, though.

We could make a new banner for them to differentiate between the two, but the perks would be the same.

Sounds like a good idea, but I think we should try to give the enhanced users even more privileges to attract more to subscribe or write

being an engineer student, i know about long tedious (spelling?) things that get boring! so i understand how that can be :P


an idea would be asking users who posted well written posts on the forum if they would like their post transposed to an article, hell, if you tell me what articles you guys like, and what format you would like them in, or other admin users for that matter, it is just a matter of copy and pasting and saving with (if need be) the appropriate program.


like, there is a LOT of tactica posts on LO that can be easily transposed given some member action into well written articles... as well as some nice painting posts that are way like 10 pages in the background and some cool conversions and whatnot posts that i think should have been stickied or articled....


like make a contest for us guys to do to come up with WELL written articles for some forum perks. i liked that idea!


like i myself went through and collected all of the tactics posted by users into a well (somewhat :P ) written post for the reason of the daemon hunters to better know their foes... and throughout all the other sections, there are TONS of good posts that should be referenced and composed into articles, the only thing is taking time to do it.... maybe even for the contest offering like some kind of credit at an online retailer like battlewagon bitz or something like that if people dont care for the LO privledges buff!
