View Full Version : evolution of the forums KingBurriss April 14th, 2007, 12:17 hey, I last visited here... years ago, and since you lot deemed it fit to spam my email to death I'm back.
However the forums have got a load of new stuff which completely confuses me, it wasn't here when I was around.
I'm wondering what all the tags and badges on various peoples names mean, and why I am a "senior member"?
Also, the reputation thing, on my user cp I have some links to very old threads and comments from people giving me stars. If someone could explain the benefits of this, or is it just some stars for making a good thread etc?
cheers
KB Warrior47 April 14th, 2007, 14:53 Here is a run down:
Administrator: head guys
Supervisor: A little under but can't change site I believe
Supermod: mod over several forums
Mod: a moderator
Enhanced: people who have a certain amount of reputation and posts/time at site. Gain some privilages such as another forum, bigger avatar
Subscriber: Donates money to LO, gets same stuff as enhanced
Artist/RPG/Promisance/Autors/IRC: Tags for respected groups. Anyone can join
Magazine: For webmag staff
For titles:
Junior member: new person with a couple posts
Member: has enough posts to not be a junior member
Senior member: has over 200 something posts
LO zealot: over 1000 posts
All others: custom titles put in by enhanced, mods, or subscribers who can change their's.
Rep is mainly a thank you, but once you get enough it allows you to get into the enhanced group where you get some privilages for being a good long lasting member. After that though, your rep power (the amount of rep you can give) goes up for the amount of rep you have and you get more stars on you, (such as my 5). You give rep by clicking the little star in the bottom left corner of people's posts and once you are enhanced/mod/subscriber, you can give neg rep, which, as it sounds, subtracts from some one's rep.
For all this stuff in detail, here is a link to Caluin's Everything You Need to Know About LO thread: Click ME:D (http://www.librarium-online.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74187)
Oh, and I believe they are working on the spam problem, so hopefully it will stop soon. KingBurriss April 16th, 2007, 11:01 ahh, damned invisible sticky syndrome, cheers for the link, everything makes alot more sense now.
A further question though, i've got alot of 40k stuff i'd like to get feedback on, but i'm unsure on which forum would be best.
For example, i've got a major Tyranid conversion finished, with the paint being WIP. when finished, would this go in the conversions, painting, or Tyranid forum?
I'm gonna have a looksee at the gallery feature too, don't think that was there when I was here last... or the blogs..
thanks again Andusciassus April 16th, 2007, 11:40 If you want feedback on painting it's the painting forum. There is also the conversion forum for WiP conversions or just throwing conversion ideas around.
If you have things that are scratchbuilt it's the modelling forum, that's for like massive greenstuff jobs and such.
The seperate "race-forums" are more for game mechanics regarding a specific race, like if you have nay questions on how to equip a Carnifex- Tyranid forum.
If you have a Tyranid armylist you want advice upon, then there is a link at the top of the Tyranid forum to the special Tyranid Armylist-section.
You'll learn in no time, it's a very intuitive layout.
Oh, welcome back:) chemicalcaveman April 16th, 2007, 12:10 Hey man, I remember you! Welcome back.
The link warrior gave you is a good re-introduction. Things have changed since you have been here last, I think changed for the better though. They are looking into the spam emails though, so that should change fairly soon. KingBurriss April 16th, 2007, 13:11 Hey Chemicalcaveman! yer, I remember you too. Nice to see one of the old faces around still.
I think thats all my questions answered, thanks for the replies. I'm sure i'll blunder my way back into the swing of things again shortly. Blackhat April 16th, 2007, 22:42 we would also love to feature your 40k stuff/articles at the frontpage too. You can get lots of comments from there as well :)
