I've used large brushes many times, but I've never known for sure if they qualify as a "tank" brush. Anyone know what the "official" definition is of a tank brush? I'd like to pick up one or two new ones, and I don't think that Michael's has a "tank brush" section, and no, I'm not buying from GW.

Tanks a lot. (Sorry, couldn't resist)

Well I think GW's "Tank" brush is a round brush - my suggestion is to go BIG. Not sure the exact size but I have one that is probably around 1/4" thick maybe more. Definitely over a size 5 brush.

The point of having a large brush is so you can cover the model quicker. Technically you could probably use a much bigger canvas brush though that might be overkill. The key is to keep your paint very thin so that brushing with a large brush won't cause it to look thick and uneven.

Hope this helps a little bit.

Cheers,

-Mike
