Last Friday we bought some Space marines for one guy who is starting 40k and monday he brought them to shcool to show us he assembled them. It wasn't very well done, he only clipped them out and assembled them, not removing any plastic bits still on them, in short they were horrible. I didn,t say anything but "you could take those out with an exacto" so he agreed and said he was going to do it that night. So afterwards me and another guy playing 40k decided we were gonna bring our models tomoro, we did. I brought:
-a Destroyer
-a Necron Warrior
-a Immortal converted form Necron Warriors
-a Normal Necron lord (metal ones with Warscyth)
-a Destroyer Lord
-and a Necron lord with SOL (Scratch built out of spare parts)

Then that guy and another guy that plays 40k came and starting commenting about how my conversions are crappy and that "he sucks really bad at painting, he didn't even drybrush" and I just took my models put them back in my box and left. The guy had tyranids that we never saw and the other guy has imperial guards that are primered and that have "good" conversions where you can clearly see the legs are too small for the torso, I tought he was showing me squats*.

Anyway, I'll try to get pics of my models this week end so you guys can help me improve my painting skills, I've never ahd that free GW paint lesson and these are my first models, I find them beauitiful but the others seem to dislike them.

They are the only 40k players aronud here...

*I may have pissed off this guy because he keeps going "IG R DA RoXxOrZ DeY OwN NeCrOnZ BaD!!!11ONE" like one day he came he's like: pick any necron elite choice and i bet on equal numbers Storm Troopers will own them, so I said: immortals, I did the math and about 95% of the time 10 on 10, immortals can kill all 10 ST without losing a man. He got pissed, told me I sucked at math and I'd probally lose, I did the math with him that even on equal points (10 immortals and 28 ST) the immortals win. He said: well not if I roll well enough, so I said: well if I roll well enough I can pass all my armour saves and never die, he was like: what you cheat with rigged dice. Then after he was like: well ST win cause they have support of the whole IG army so your immortals would die first thing, So I said: well I can have support too. So he was like: I can bring a Baneblade or a titan, so I was like: I can bring a pylon. He frowned and said: do you have a pylon? , I said: do you have a BB or a titan. So now he keeps gonig I know how to beat you, a 6 point battle I nring a guardsmen and you can't bring anything so I win, or he said well your pylon has a 36" minimum range(I told him) so I chanllenge you pylon vs my BB on a 36" table...

He's being a jerk... doing all kinds of stuff like that...

I need painting skills so my better painted army can beat his on the field of battle...

Pshht seriously dont take that crap at least its painted not primered crap , and you dont need better painting skills just better confidence (i think) so anyways show him how hard you can beat him not how well you paint.

not entirely sure that this belongs in the painting forum (other than they were being wankers about your painting), but let's take a look...

1) any decent player (or person, for that matter) isn't going to act like these guys. To bash someone else's stuff is pretty pathetic. If they think they are that much better than you, they should be providing advice (when appropriate) and encouragement, not abuse.

2) The IG guy's on crack if he thinks man-for-man ANYTHING the IG fields will beat necrons.

3) If his maths are whacked, and he's a bit of an idiot as well as being a huge wally, I'd say ignore him. Unless there is NO way to play 40k without his being around, simply don't play around him.

If you want painting advice, post a few pix here. There are plenty of excellent painters who'll be more than happy to give you a few pointers to help you along.

personally i would have lost my patience a long time ago, body parts would be seperated from the body and sprayed liberally along the walls

moral of the story is - dont play with a mentally inadequate 12 year old (meaning mental age of 6 or less) and keep trying with your painting

one of my regular opponents is a young girl - who has fantastically painted sisters of battle, she attends the club with her father and has always acted witha maturity that belies her age

worst comes to worst, jsut turn the other cheek and ignore them, or bring a chainsaw to the party

Well, just because they're not very good at painting/converting doesn't automatically discredit their opinions. Them already disliking you is a good hint to get second opinions though. All I can say is don't play with them. If that means don't play, then don't play. Gaming is supposed to be fun, and if you're not having fun gaming with them then don't. Wait till you can drive and look for a gaming club with decent people. Till then, work on making good and good-looking armies so you can impress people and be proud.

Dude, just push the guy over, stamp on his Imperial Guard miniatures a few times, spit on the broken pieces and walk off! lol. NO in all seriousness take absolutely no notice of this idiot. He is childishly attention seeking and there will always be an ego maniac in every competitive game (yep even Warhammer lol).

If makes other comments (by the sounds of it he will) just ignore him. Id normally say ‘come out with a degrading witty remark’ insulting his intellectual level but this will only cause future tension and not to mention he will double his efforts to annoy you.

All push comes to shove and it gets too much grab his full miniature case and throw it in front of a on-coming bus while laughing at him frantically trying to pick up the pieces. Ha ha ha ha.

he came and said my stoorm troopers are better than immortals, then i told him, he needs 54 storm troopers to kill 1 immortal and said not if i can roll well enough, then I had to RE say well i can roll really well and never die, so he sais well flamers and autocannons can cause real damage... I'm like SURE. So he started talking about how Leman russes own monoliths and all that crap i forot i literally blocked him out I didn't hear much. He doesn't know that much about 40k
says necron was his first army and didn't know they had a 3+ save said i was wrong and they had a 4+ save so autocannons would own them and that he could us a flamer on my guys really well by DS in the middle of my squad then flaming and I told him he'd b dead so he was like I can deepstrike next to you and assault with a veterant sergeant with a PF!!! So I told him I'd rapid fire him to death...

THEN he said the thnig that pissed me off: NECRONS ARE CHEESY...

This guy is an idiot, so try to make him act like one:
Make him think he can win in melee.
Put your Tanks/Big stuff against his tanks, and infantry v infantry (this is bad for IG).
Try to get his command squad to charge you.
There's nothing he can really deepstrike with the killing power he needs, the worst I imagine would be melta Storm Trooper squads, just assault them.

That's all I can think of right now.

Oh, and try to kill at least 1 tank with Warriors. That will REALLY piss him off.

I don't think you will find any more help other than to move along and find other players. I know that you are really young - and one day you will look back upon these foolish discussions and laugh.

Just a quick piece of advice - youth is short - don't waste it on idiots. Persue activities that make you happy with people whose company you enjoy. Otherwise you will regret wasting it.

Make sure you post a battle report so that we can see how badly you kicked his ass.:yes:

you need a place to host your pictures first. Either in the gallery here or on one of the many free photo hosting sites.

Then in the post just click the insert picture icon (has a mountain on it) and put in the URL where the picture resides. Usually you can get this info by right clicking on the file and going to properties (windows).

Dude, if this guy's pissing you off, just ignore him. If he insists on ranting about how IG would pwn Necrons, then challenge him to a game. It should be a piece of cake to beat him, by the way he sounds. Either that, or report him to a staff member and ask them to make him leave or stop 'harassing' you. Good luck.

read your first post, and then skipped all the the rest so i could comment, so sorry to everybody that gave steller advice, but this kind of thing gives me the shits.

the way i see it is, even if somebody else got you into the hobby, once your in, its *FKN* yours. the first thing i lernt was painting = *F*ALL*) i dont think ive actully finished painting a single model lately , and i doubt i will. i also have about 10 conversions on the way, which ill finish one day (yeah right before some other idea pops into my brain).

sorry about the rant, but it really shits me.

so to the point about my rant: who cares what they say?
going on 15yrs in the hobby and i still cant paint, dont care, can convert with the best of em tho, just cant finish a single conveesion i start.
