One night ( this evening, specifically ) I just grabbed a piece of paper and sketched a little bit. I kept drawing, for about an hour actually and decided to also quikly scan this thingy and to create a thread of my own in the sketchbook forum. So here I am
I am working on a diorama with plaguebearers and nurglings between them, and I'm pretty into the look and fluff of the plaguebearers ( always form a bond with the subject you're drawing of painting ) , that's why I sketched this little thingy.
Without further ado, my 60 minute plaguebearer:
I'm no artist, just like drawing and I would appreciate tips you have for me to improve my skills. I always use a good ol' pencil and I've never used computerprogramms for the drawing or colouring and such ( in fact I never colour my stuff, because I don't really know what's the best way and am pretty sure I would screw up the drawing ).
O well, constructive criticism appreciated
Hello The Bearded One!
Sometimes late at night I look through the spooky books in the Adeptus Sororitas Mission house library. I've seen pictures of these plaguebearer thingeys, yuck! They all look a little different, a million kinds of grossness. Yours is very good! I like the emaciated and lanky limbs. Some plaguebearers have big muscular looking arms (I suppose it looks threatening) with all kinds of boils and leprosy and rot, but the bloated body spindly limb look is just as creeping me out as the other.
Anyways, I think it's a good drawing! I do some sketching too, like you mostly in pencil, sometimes I trace it in pen. I don't do color, 'cause it looks like Papa Nurgle ate a box of crayons and 'Stream of Corruptioned' it all over the paper, lol!
Good luck with your diorama, post pics, yeah?
Thanks for your comment, Francois
Yeah, I wanted him to look a bit like he is just falling apart with the diseases and I know what you mean with the colouring ^^ Ill be sure to post some pics of the diorama when it is done ( though me bing me , that could take some time xD And I am away a lot the coming weeks, holiday in Turkey, week excursion to Athens etc )
That looks great! i tried drawing some daemon stuff (mostly nurgle) and i couldnt get it right, it looked too out of proportion.. But you've got it spot on!
on piece of advice would be to shade more heavily in between the folds of skin.. other than that it looks great!
Sometimes the best defense is a good offense... Wait, what?
I've drawn this for Phoenix' rewrite of the Beasts of Chaos armybook and posted it in his thread. It's a regular pencil sketch and after scanning I threw contrast and midtones and such a few notches up and down so you would actually see the drawing ( when scanning drawings, usually it's very light and hard to see ) . A good ol' beastherd and I enjoyed drawing it.
very nicely done , I always struggle with just pencils¬! really good job :]
