This is going to be a story that everyone can help with. All you have to do is add a paragraph. Each entry will make the story drastically different, as everyone has unique ideas. Please no "then all the space marines died, cause they suck" or crap like that. You can change the story and make it your own, just don't ruin it. I'll start.
City after city fell to the aliens. The technology they wielded gave them great advantages on the battlefield, and the ranks of the Imperial Guard were dwindling. Each loss brought the enemy closer to Ultramar, and that meant only one thing- the Tau would face the wrath of the Ultramarines.
this is an example:
The Ultramarines deployed three tactical squads, each ten strong, to counter the enemy. The Tau had a Devilfish and pathfinders in the area, and a shootout was sure to ensue.
I continued the story a little, and the next person will continue it further, and can even create specific characters for the story to focus on if they want.
Tensions were running high in Damascus as one full third of its composition were seeing their first taste of active service today; Brother Pethos in particular was quite anxious in his anticipation, he was fighting to keep himself from jumping headlong out of his position and charging across the field Meltagun in hand when a cloud of earth erupted a mere foot from his head, showering dark thick flecks across his visor. Dizzied Pethos felt the familiar servo powered grip of his Sergant pulling him to his feet "Stand fast Brother" rasped the digitized voice of his ageing mentor, "Our task is not done yet!".
Darnit I managed to pull myself away but it wasn't easy.
An open battlefield is nothing but a death trap - in war any visible target is a casualty no matter how well protected it may be.
