Is it just me, or does anyone else hate the way the 40k Battle Report's are being set out. No more birds-eye-view of the maps each turn, instead a photo of the real table from an awkward angle where terrain blocks what we see quite a lot, not to mention the bars at the side describing each players turn, rather than the old turn-by-turn text of the old layout.
What do you lot think of the new layout?
You cannot win, for to fight us is to give us power.
I agree. Its not the same. :hmm:
Purge the daemon where ever it may be!
I agree, the old way was far better for people to understand.
ya I really liked the old ones more.
They have been doing the battle reports in the Canadian White Dwarf Supplement like that since the supplement has been running - and it does indeed suck. They need more maps. The only thing I don't like more than no maps is battle reports that are told exclusively through fluff. Those really lack value and impact as well. We should start emailing someone about this.
Go forth, and raise hell...they mustn't continue to sully the greatness that was WD battle reports!
I really like the new battle report. I like being able to see what the battle really looks like. I'd like one or two birds eye view shots when approrpiate, but I find it far more convenient this new way than having to flick back to the army lists to work out what all the cryptic symbols on the map mean.
on the old reports the army list told you the full profile on the units strength, weapons, ect . its hard to predict what the unit will do if it is an army you dont use if all you know is their points cost
do not underestimate a sponge, what they lack in movement they make up for in brain power.
I like it ...... kinda. I think the angle could be better, so terrain wouldn't block.
Maybe its just that they Language this one up, and they'll get it right next month. As long as they don't have that crappy 'almost-horizontal' view I'll be ok though. Seriously they've got to raise the angle from now on, considering the only way to take a shot of the whole table is from several feet away,
The one other thing they have GOT to change, is splitting our main view of the game across the seam of the magazine. Whoever decided to do that is a bloody moron (I really hope I didn't just slag off the editor).
The report itself was also pretty dull (Chaos vs SMurfs, I give you one guess who wins?)
In most Aussie WD Batreps, they have both this view you describe and also maps a plenty.
