Excellent battle, in my opinion. The Deathwatch hauled ass - I couldn't believe it.
However, in my opinion, the battle was doomed for guard from the start. He had an okay idea going with hedgehogs, but the fact that he sat there and ran the Inquisitor right under their noses made me smack my forehead. He could have done this:
-Moved his non-Inquisitorial Chimera up 12', providing cover (literally) for the Inquisitor. Same for the Russ by the Conscripts. This would have allowed him to, say, scoot behind the Russ and the Chimera and have a *much* better chance of getting to safety. He simply played too conservatively.
The IG playyer had no chance, if the Inquisitors Chimaera was destroyed or immobilised on turn 1 or 2 he could never make it to the Aquilla.
Mission objective should have read:
Kill 1 Chimaera, with 2500pts in 2 turns.
Rees is one of GW's best players however he should have put the DW more centrally to help out the Inquisitor, and why the Force weapon? More ablaitive henchmen.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
Yeh, his henchmen were not that good. And the terrain put him on the back foot right from turn one. And I also believe he should of utilised his storm troopers more wisely.
It's always funny reading the army specific scenarios and thinking how much better X army would have done. So, for this one, Eldar. Put the farseer (who you'ld use instead of an inquisitor obviously) in a fully tooled up Falcon. Move the maximum distance and then use star engines. Go over terrain. By the time the nids get there, you'ld be long gone. Still, I guess that's why they're army specific. As an aside, I own the rules for the lander, if it'ld actually been under the controll of the guard player he would've kicked ass, being a flying transport. Drop the deathwatch off, pick up the inquisitor. Anyways, good battle!
Don't worry too much about life-it isn't permanent.
They say that a space marine is superhuman, a hundred times more powerful than a normal man. Mon-keigh, one hundred times zero is still zero.
Do you hear the screaming? Its Edward Scissorhands wanking...
THat was kinda crappy, with the nulifying of Zoanthropes. I'd have taken Biovores or another fex if I knew the Librarian could nullify! I'm a Tyranid player so I care about that kinda stuff, and....
Deathwatch sucks....(because they killed so many of our guys)
"If a ninja does anything anywhere it won't make a sound, but if it does it's probably gonna be the last sound you hear."
Its funny because most of the time new armies that are in battle reports win, to show how good they are. In this report the Nids did well (obviously) and the Deathwatch did amazing, maybe its because the Xenos hunters are coming out. Probally not but just a guess.
