Hello, first time poster here...
I have a few Beastmen sitting around that i would like to expand on. I'm looking to make a fun list for more friendly gaming environments, but still want it to be solid. Wanted to get some comments/help before I decide to spend a lot of money expanding. Thank you!
-Lore of Beasts
-Chalice of Dark Rain
Lords = 24%
-Talisman of Endurance
Heroes = 16.4%
24 Gors (BSB goes here)
19 Gors (Shaman goes here)
Core = 39.4%
Special = 18.9%
This leaves me with 13 points left that I'm really not sure what to do with.
-Love the minotaur models, but would 3 die too quickly or are they okay in a 1k game? I would consider swapping them for bestigors if they are totally useless..
-Bray shaman has beasts to buff the gor units

Firest thing, welcome (I'm new to beastmen too).
About your list : Chalice of dark rain is a rather good item, but at the actual point level, I doubt it will serve you to its full potential and cost (40 ptish... rather costy for a couple of arrows saved, because you wont see much more than a couple at 1000 pts games). I'd keep it in mind for higher points games, and give lvl 4 to your Great Bray Instead (+1 spell + 1 to cast).
Good bsb, always useful and more to us because of primal fury.
About your core, in what formation do you plan on using them ? From my expirience in 8th, 5x4 or 5x6 formations simply don't cut it. They don't have enough attacks to compete 10x3 or 10x4 formations. Yes, you have a lower number of units on the board, but your (probably only) unit will win its combat. A fronting of 5 gets 10 attacks, while against a fronting of 10, which gets 7 models in base contact, it makes 21 attacks depending on gear (in our case, Gors with AHW makes 15 vs 28.... who wins ?). Maybe you will get steadfast, but it will last a single turn...
So what do you plan to do with your Gors ?
Minaus are great. Not my personnal favorite (I prefer Razorgors... simply because you can A)split them in many small units T5 C) get as many attacks with higher str on first turn). Small volley fire will hurt your Minaus and make you reconsider, but have a try !
Thanks for the reply. Was planning to run the gors 5x5 and 5x4 and buff them with Wyssan's Wildform to be s4 t5, 2 ranks of attacks, 2 attacks each in first rank, and re-rollable primal fury (with bsb) and hope for steadfast. However, your points seem very interesting to me.
Never have tried a horde formation, but am now possibly considering doing one big horde of gors. May not be steadfast all the time, but would have many more (hopefully) primal fury attacks. What would be a good number for a horde? 10x5?

For a force more focused around a small horde of gors, how does this look?
-Lore of Beasts
Lords = 20%
Heroes = 13.6%
38 Gors (both characters here)
Core = 47.9%
Special = 18.9%
Thats a good listm especially at 1000 points, one thing i would suggest though is to swap great weapons for 2 hand weapons on minotaurs, at 1000pts i doubt you will see much t5-6+ and even heavy cavalry is still going to be worried by 16 str 5 attacks and 3 str 5 auto hits from stomp, and maybe even impact hits if your lucky too, using the beast banner the other day my unit charged a unit of chaos knights and did enough wounds to kill all but 1 of the buggers lol, needless to say my normal attacks finished him off.
that in itself is one reason i love minotaurs, that and bloodgreed is insane, you go smashing into a unit of humans or skaven and you will come out mainly unharmed with 3 extra attacks each or so
good luck with this list, i hope this helps
Fantasy : Empire, Chaos Warriors, Chaos Daemons, Vampire Counts, Beastmen, High Elves, Lizardmen( but i have opinions on every army just not the money)
40k: Black Templars, Imperial Guard, Dark Eldar, Tau (thinking of Eldar)
