    2k Doubles (paired with HE)

I've been paired with my Beastman friend in a doubles game against Daemons and Dark Elf, with 2k each. He's currently got a 0% win rate compared to my 100% with my HE so we're hoping this balances out :-D

My list will look something like this:
Archmage + Book of Hoeth + Lore of Life
    BSB
Mage + Lore of Shadow + trinkets
Mage + High Magic + trinkets
    5x5 block of Seaguard
    10 archers
    2x RBT
    10x Phoenix Guard w/ FC + Banner
    10x Swordmasters w/ FC + Banner

What would you pair to go with this? If memory serves he thought something like this, although it has a fair few points left:
Brass Bull (or might be one eye - the one that lets you re-roll ambush anyway, i don't really know your book!)
    4 units of 30 gors w/ FC
    3 Minotaurs w/ FC
    Giant
BSB w/ talisman of preservation and enchanted shield

So what do you recommend oh wise beast types? :-) I'm especially curious as o what people think of the giant.

I am a high elves player as well and teemed up with beasts before for a friendly game and my friend took a minotor list with a doom bull as his lord choice and it worked really well.

OK, let's talk about this really quickly, because those lists need SERIOUS work.

The first thing - bring Hordes. Beastmen are at their best when they have a numbers edge. That means lots of Gors, and lots of Bestigors. The second - you NEED Leadership. Right now, you're running Minotaurs, which are crap at providing any sort of steady Leadership. Either you bring a Great Bray-Shaman and you put him in a unit with the Standard of Discipline, or you shell out the points for a Beastlord. Thirdly, where is the chaff? Beastmen have access to some of the best chaff in the game - use it! Last but not least, it needs more magic - Beastmen have access to lots of buffing and debuffing magic, and you should take advantage of it.

I would incorporate all the suggestions I made into the following list:

    Beastmen - 2000 points:

    Core - 512 points
38 Gors, AHW's, Full Command [BSB and Great Bray-Shaman go here]
    5 Ungor Raiders, Musician
    5 x 5 Ungor Raiders

    Special - 558 points
39 Bestigors, Full Command, Gleaming Pennant [Beastlord goes here]
    Razorgor

    Heroes - 431 points
Wargor, BSB, The Beast Banner, Gnarled Hide, Heavy Armor, Shield
Bray-Shaman, Dispel Scroll [Lore of Shadows]
Bray-Shaman, Shard of the Herdstone [Lore of Shadows]

    Lords - 499 points
Beastlord, Heavy Armor, Shield, Sword of Might, Talisman of Preservation
Great Bray-Shaman, Fencer's Blades, Jagged Dagger, L4 Wizard [Lore of Beasts]

    Grand Total: 2000 points

The basic strategy here is that you have two gigantic fighting blocks, along with a ton of chaff you can use to shoot stuff/redirect/sacrifice/be annoying, as well as a BUNCH of magic to back it all up. The Shaman, as you'll notice, is kitted out to kill things and generate even more power dice for you thanks to the Jagged Dagger (be generous while buffing him, though - T5 is good, but not great defense). The two Shamans in the back dance around the Herdstone all day long and generate power dice for you. You'll also rule the deployment phase, because of all the dummy drops that you have. Your opponent's entire army will likely be on the field before you deploy anything important, and that's a great thing to have.
