i was going to do darkelves as my next army but i hate there models and so i have decided to do beastmen as they have cool rules, nice models and i think are very under-rated
Gnarld Hide, Uncanny Senses
Ramhorn Helm, Dawn Stone, Potion of Heeling
Heavy Armour, Shield
This guy has a 1+ re-rollable save which if he passes he gets another attack
He also has 5 wounds which he can heal when he gets down to 2 wounds
And he is 6 S6 attacks at I6. I think this is just the standard doombull people are running
Great Shaman (shadows)
Skull of ..., Chalice of Dark Rain
All wizards in 6" get +1 to cast and a wee bit of anti shootig for a turn
Dispel Scroll, Stone of Spite
Crown of Command
2 units of 25 Gors with shields
1 units of 50 ungors with spears
2 units of 10 raiders
2 units of 5 harpies with scout
the raiders are used to get in the way
so if im playing a combat army they will have to charge my raiders to get to my main lines so even if they over run into say my ungors by the time they fight combat it will be my turn (so i get to cast as much magic as possible at them)
my magic phase is pretty horrible i think
all wizards will be deployed close to each other so i will be getting 3 power dice automatically then i have a 50% chance to channel then im getting +5 to cast with my great shaman and +3 with the others
I just have a few questions
Is the doom bull worth it: he is about 360 points which is so expenisve
also are ghorgons any good
iv never seem them played but there stats look amazing
im plannig on using them in conjunction with my pumbas seeing as they have blood greed.
Is all goes well then i have a potential 35 S6 attacks, then another 3 S6(5?) stomp attacks and 2D6 S6 thumnder stomp attacks.
If we take the thunder stomp average of 7 and if we go against chaos warriors thats 27 S6 hits which is 22 dead warriors (ouch). although thats assuming that they all get into contact with the warriors and they go 1st/dont take any casulties and that they are not marked. but still, they hit hard is my point
My personal opinion is that Doombulls aren't worth it unless you're getting a big Horde of Minos - Beastlords are plenty killy by themselves, and cost about 2/3 the points, plus they get Look Out Sir! rolls from a unit much more able to do it. I'm also a big fan of hordes (read: 40ish) of Gors and Bestigors and a Wargor BSB in the Gor unit with the Beast Banner plus all the Gifts of Chaos you can stuff on him - Str 4 makes Gors very strong, and that means that virtually every unit you're fielding is a threat, especially if you get some L1 or L2 Shamans with Lore of Beasts to gobble up any dice the L4 isn't using (S5/T5 Gors with Wyssan's Wildform - think about it ).
Math-hammer says that Shields aren't worth it on Gors, nor are Spears on Ungors. I'd run the Gors with AHW's and the Ungors with plain ol' hand weapons - that parry save is worth it on a unit whose purpose in life is to tarpit; on a dedicated fighty unit? ...Not so much, especially if you can get the aforementioned buffs off. I'm also not much of a fan of Ungors as combatants, but opinions differ on that provided you can keep them within the BSB+General Ld "bubble".
Ghorgons are too risky IMO; no armor save, no regeneration, and only T6 means that if a Cannon doesn't rip them apart (a common fate for monsters, from what I hear), a tarpit unit they can't break likely will (and gods forbid you run into Great Weapon wielders or anything like that).
I'm curious to see how Harpies perform - their high price tag has kept me away from them.

thanks for the adivce
yea i re-wrote my core section and gave my bsb the beast banner
so basically core is
50 Gors with shields (sorry i love parry saves)
2 units of 35 Ungors (3 wide, 7 deep) with spears
These guys are just to deny steadfast
i have 1 unit on each of the flanks of the gors
1 unit of 10 Ungors
these guys go behind the Gors and are just a camp for my wizards
2 units of raiders
again these guys are just to make sure that im fighting close combat in my turn so i can buff up my units
so the deployment will look like from left to right
ghorgon, pumbas, ghorgon, 35 Ungors, 50 Gors (with bsb), 35 Ungors, 5 Minotaurs (with doombull)
then i have my raiders infront of my Ungors and Gors and my 10 Ungors sitting behind my Gors buffing up units and hexing there's
What do u think
Looks pretty solid, provided you have the 3 Shamans. I'd give it a spin.
