    2000 pnt Beasts, undivided

    Gday,

Heres a beasts list of mine i hope to get one day. Cant decide between these guys (even tho i already have 5000 points of mortals...) or dark elves. Here goes for this list anyway....

    H - Bray shaman - 166
    Braystaff, Level 2, Power familiar

    H - Bray shaman - 116

10x gor (2x HW) 8x Ungor (spears), Full command

    C - 18x Beastherd - 137
10x gor (2x HW) 8x Ungor (spears), Full command

    C - 10x Beastherd - 80 ( these two always put into ambush, minimum)
5x gor (2x HW) 5x Ungor (spears), Champion, Muso

    C - 10x Beastherd - 80
5x gor (2x HW) 5x Ungor (spears), Champion, Muso

    C - Chariot

    C - Chariot

    S - 3x Minotaurs - 158
    Great weapons, Bloodkine

The units have their obvious tactics. Ive gone with a magic heavy army coz i love the new law of beasts.

The only suggestion I could make is that I don't like centigors, and would exchange them for a level 4 upgrade and a spell familiar on the great bray shaman and get a couple of units of warhounds instead.

That way the ambush can be exectuted near war machines and you can use the new spell 6 in the lore of beasts to attack straight away with the warhounds
    New LOChat functions now avaliable.

I like the list, and it's coming together nicely, but I have a few thoughts:

Heroes: Make your GBS a Lvl 4, there's no point keeping him Lvl 3, particularly in a magic heavy army. I'd also be tempted to make your Wargor a BSB, but not necessarily. They look good, overall.

Herds: Firstly, you should always have more Ungors than Gors, and you should never have more than 8 Gors. Beyond that the Gors are a waste of points because they'll rarely line up more than 8 in the front rank, and with S3 they're not killing a lot. Herds add manouverability and support to Beasts, every other unit adds to kills.

Secondly, you have three support herds. Have at least one battle herd with 21+ models (21 so there are 6 needed to kill for a panic test). Other Herds should then be small, say 10. This is because Herdsd took a big hit in 7th Edition. Now they don't receive ranks against single models (characters, chariots, monsters), they can be march-blocked and may only move, not march, onto the board in ambush. I'd drop 3 of those support herds.

Chariots: Great, maybe add one more, but after that it may smell of cheese.

    Minotaurs: Great.

    Centigors: I love them.

Giant: Though some doubt his ability, I think he's very useful.

There are three problems I see with your list:

    1) No fast, heavy hitters. The only two you have are Minotaurs and the Giant, who may not hit so hard sometimes. Centigors, though strong, can't be relied upon to hit quite so hard. So I think you need another squad of Minotaurs.

    2) Furies or Screamers are a must. They are just far too useful to look past as they can do everything: march-block, war machine hunt, mage hunt, weapons team hunt, attacking small flankers. They're the best thing in the Chaos list, so use them!

    3) Warhouds: These little tackers are one of the most useful things in our list for blocking and deflecting. They're cheap, and every Beast army should have at least 2 units of 5.

Besides that I think you have it all down pat. Good luck!

    Hmmmmmm

Ok, ive had time to re-kerjiger the list and this is what ive come up with. Note, ive left of the Screamers, despite how good i know they are, coz i really do want pure undivided. Plus, to fit them, id have to remove the giant, and that aint happening!!!!!

    L - Great bray shaman - 263
Level 4, braystaff, chaos armour, Rune of the True beast

    H - Wargor - 100
Great weapon, shield, heavy armour, Horn of the Hunt, GENERAL

    H - Bray shaman - 166
    Braystaff, Level 2, Power familiar

C - 18x Beastherd - 131 (these are body guard units if need be)
8x gor (2x HW) 10x Ungor (spears), Full command

    C - 18x Beastherd - 131
8x gor (2x HW) 10x Ungor (spears), Full command

    C - 18x Beastherd - 131
8x gor (2x HW) 10x Ungor (spears), Full command

    C - 10x Beastherd - 75 (two always put into ambush, minimum)
5x gor (2x HW) 5x Ungor (spears), Champion

    C - 10x Beastherd - 75
5x gor (2x HW) 5x Ungor (spears), Champion

    C - 10x Beastherd - 75
5x gor (2x HW) 5x Ungor (spears), Champion

    C - Chariot

    C - Chariot

    C - 5x Hounds

    C - 5x Hounds

    S - 8x Furies

    S - 3x Minotaurs - 138
    Great weapons

    S - 6x Centigors - 139
    Shield, Throwing axe, Muso

    R - Chaos Giant - 205

    TOTAL - 1999

    PD - 9, DD - 6, No scrolls

So, Ive toned down the characters, and herd to fit furies and hounds. This was the only way i could see fitting everything Tones mentioned.

    Hows this? Tim

It's looking pretty good, but I'd just drop one of those medium sized herds off the bat to get another squad of Minotaurs. They will serve you so much better.

Like the list but i reccomend that u remove a bray shaman and replace it with a wargor or something, or maybe even use the exra points to beef up a unit of buy upgrades for your characters.

I would keep the shamans. Beastmagic is cool.
If you want some fast cav, it sounds like you already have the Marauder Horsemen to add to your army. MHw/ spears, shlds and throwing axes are cheap and can be nasty against other fast cav or flyers.
