someone i know plays with a harsh S.A.D skaven army as a beast player i dont know how to stop it, this is roughly what he uses
3 enginers , 1 warlord , 20 jezzails , 5 ratling guns , warplightning cannon and lots of blocks of 30 strong.
what kind of list should i use to make thing more fair.
LOL my friend plays this plus the grey seer instead of the warlord!!!
i think it's frankly impossible to win against this type of skaven, with ANY chaos army.
he just has got too much magic and too much firepower and too much models to lose without worries...
the only chance you have imo is to rush forward and break units from flanking/rearing; you should pick the general's unit from front and rear, forcing the character to fight (and be slain probably) and possibly use fear causing units (beware of daemons though, daemonic aura is not active against warpstone!!!) to maximize the effect of psychology.
also, if you can, field the daemonic cannon, since it is a stone thrower -but any way it scatters, you are sure to hit many many models, and being able to cause panic on skaven is a blessing: once they flee they lose ranks, and they're toast
or much better imagine jezzails who have no ranks at all...
try to field both furies and screamers, you need them to crush the jezzail batteries, but try to make attacks which you are SURE to win, because they have good armor too!
as god choice i would suggest an undivided general, so you could field nurgle units for fear, furies, screamers, some fast cavalry to get flanks, plus multiple blocks of 4 khorne knights, which at around 170 points give you 8+4 attacks and one dispel dice.
and don't forget the cannon, it could change the match!
Arrgggg i hate fighting these type of army's but i always do. The most successful thing i have found is lots of ambushing beast herds small ones 5 gors 5 ungors to tie up their ranged also i use units of furies for fear/tieing up ranged. Khorne minos with 2 hand weapons work well because of the fear and beast CC ability's. 4 units of 5 warhounds make a good screen for the ratling guns and such.If your beast herds come in at the right spot you have a good chance of actlly getting your superior CC units into combat. As far as magic goes some khorne units and a shaman with dispell scrolls work pretty well you can usually get around 8 dispel dice pretty easily.
"Horn and hoof, power is there. Not feeble smoothskin, clumsy greenskin, wicked elf-swine. Gor is strong. Gor is true. Gor shall kill all, slay all for the gods."
- Beastlord Gorthor.
dragon ogres and dragon ogre shaggoths are immune to lightning attacks so are immune to the warp lightning cannon and some other things. Thus they can be used to screen in the right circumstances. Like mentioned above, ambushing is very helpful.
Armies: Dark Eldar, Ogre Kingdoms, Beasts of Chaos, Orcs & Goblins, Warriors of Chaos
Past Armies: Dwarfs, Mortal Chaos, Imperial Guard, Space Marine
I've only played skaven once with my beasts and my opponent had more night runners (still difficult due to the fact that he had a movement advantage and skimish) I've found that the skaven mages go down fairly easy to decent attacks. If you could charge some minotaurs into his units with the engineers, place all the attacks on the engineer and you have a good chance of killing him and maybe getting away or even breaking them. Once a couple of the engineers die, all of a sudden, the army will start to crumble or at least become even.
