hello i was just wondering if any one has painted black beasts i mean now the skin. or any other warhammer figure ever painted it with a brown texture becuse i need help with high lights for brown skin
so is there anyone that has?
ps nothing to do with my name
When I paint dark skin I do like this:
Scorched brown next
and then add highlights with Graveyard earth.
It will of course look better if you change the colours smoothly and give it a black/brown wash before the final highlights (to add depth). If it turns out looking far to brown and not living enough, try to give it a very thin wash of Scab Red.
I usually start with something like scorched, go to bestial brown and then finish the highlights with 50 : 50 bestial and elf flesh. This gives the skin a pinkish/reddish hue, which I find is more natural due to things like the blood underneath the skin and subsurface scattering of the light. If it is just brown fur then it does not need the hint of red like skin does.

My gors are painted black. They have dark grey and blue highlights on their fur (kind of like in the old comic books - all the black hair had blue in it) They look allright and were easier and quicker to paint than most other models.
grey, grey-brown, and a little bit of mixed in yellow for the hooves and horns. Red eyes.
I painted my single beast herd black. The skin is highlighted with a fortress grey/chaos black mix, and the hair has a base coat of codex grey and then highlighted with white. For a quick job it looks effective (the cloth they wear are painted purple. They're Slaaneshi ).
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone

Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
