@Timm you may want to take the info from this and add it to your Tactica! Might need some editing though.
So we probably are all familar with the new FAQ. If your not it basically says that when casting Indigo fire the cast can decide if the want to use horrors or Tzangors. At first glance all I could only see the benefits of summoning Tzangors but as I thought about it there are draw backs too. So the purpose of this thread is to discuss what situations you might want to summon horrors rather than tzangors.
Pros: Get a free die. Tzangors odviously come with the mark of TZ so it adds a die to your casting pool. f you cast with three dice, which I recomend becasue the casting value is so high, it's like casting Indigo fire with 2 dice summon because of the free die generated from the TZ mark. Just remember to keep a red fire spell free so you can cast it.
Great weapon toughy that o****s as charging. Against most units this will cause further damage.
They may flee combat. I know that sounds like con but in situations that may be an advantage. If you want to mess up your opponet's battle line or if you want them to puruse into a favorable combat.
Cons: unless casting against skirmishers your opponet will probably have 2 ranks and command. Chances are your TZ Gors are going to loose combat and run. Not the end of the world unless you have another unit or two behind them. Something to watch out for.
Pros: Cause fear, unbreakable. They aren't going to flee from combat. I know that they crumble but even if they all vanish your opponet won't get any free movement because the horrors count as charging. Because of the change of overrun rules in 7th ed a charged unit can NOT overrun. So either the horrors pin the unit or at worst they don't get to overrun. This may be valuable when you think TZGors may be forced to flee and you don't want your enemy getting behind you any faster.
Cons: Unlike before Horrors don't get bound spells for having one model. There need to be a bunch of these guys before they add to the casting prowess of TZ.
Weak in combat and are unlikely to add further damage.
So this is just some quick thoughts I had I am sure whith more thought other can think of situations you should choose one over the other. I would like to hear those thoughts.
One thing to note, Power Dice are generated at the start of your magic phase, so you wont get the Pd from the Tzaangors on the turn they are created unfortunately.
