has anyone played with the new skirmishing bow gors. I was reading though other thoughts on the new beastment and saw that you could have ambushing skirmishing bow gors. I was thinking if anyone has tried these and how they have worked for you and I was also wondering if anyone has tried to use mass chaos hounds in the new book? A very long time ago I used to run beastment list using 10 units of 5 hounds for mass ambushing confusion. granted it was a lot of points but I ran an all tzeentch blasting list but I was just wondering if anyone has used this tactic
Can the raiders use their bows on the turn they ambush? I think they could...
That would be pretty slick then! Most players won't ignore even 5 bowmen harassing them from the side or behind. Plus those little Ungors should be able to soundly beat any crewman they encounter in a charge as well.
The only problem I can see with the raiders is if people ignore them...
You have 50 hounds! I thought the 18 I have was a lot! I don't think I would pay the points for the new scaly skin or poison upgrades since they only get the 1 attack each, the only advantage with a bigger group is the rank bonus and they are so squishy whatever you charged should nullify that in wounds. In my opinion the warhounds work best in just little 5-6 units acting as screens and in my luckier games flankers and rank deny-ers. Actually there was an article I read on this site (The Tactica I think?) that gave really great advice how to best use them.
1stly - they have short bows and yes they can shoot when they come on - but really, do you think you'll do much damage with a bunch of BS3 str3 shots at that short of range? 6's at best to hit.
2ndly - ambush is so terrible now, it's really not worth the points in having that many units. I'd rather use my skirmishers as non-panic sized screeners, so you can protect the "meat" of your army (the ones that are actually going to fight, the ones the opponent actually cares about, and the ones that will eat up all your points)
3rdly - hounds are allright, but you really don't need more than 2-3 units.
I don't think you can ambush with the hounds any more. Correct me if I'm wrong, don't have the book with me atm.

Baby boys are like free bulldozer rental tickets. You have no idea what you're going to do with them but you know they are awesome!
Ungor Raiders are by far my favorite unit in this book. I field 4 squads of 7 every game and each squad kills more than their points and or captures table edges.
They can jump on and shoot, and yes they usually hit on 6's and wounds 4-5, but so far ive had amazing luck. My last game i played Bret's and they nailed 4 knights and a ton of peseants. I love these guys, they are in my option the best unit in this codex by far.
Tips for using!!!!
*Screen your power pieces, when enemy declares a charge you flee and next turn charge the squad that feel short.
* Do not expect much from 40ish pts!!!! I always use these guys with the expectation they will kill nothing and run off the board. With this in mind, they always seem to kill units and easily make their points up
*Keep the away from good squads!!! These guys always fail checks and are easily broken. keep them atleast 6 inches away so you dont start mass panic.
I am no joking when i saw, Raiders are by far the best unit in this codex, because our rares suck and over priced, Besides Mino's and bestigor Lord Squad, specials are a waste, so we have very few things to go with.
Good Luck and have fun!
