Topic of the Week - Jabberslythe

This is the start of a new series, that will hopefully bring new ideas and tactics to the forums. Each week, a new topic will be posted up about a different unit in the army book. This gives you your chance to discuss the unit to its fullest. So, please leave your comment!

This week's topic is - Jabberslythe

How have you used this in your list? Is it a useful choice? Has the 'Aura of Madness' rule helped you at all? Why would you choose this over other options?

    Discuss.

I love running two of these guys together. I have an all magic list with a scouting shaman with the Hunter's Spear, the a bunch of crap throw away units, including 4 units of 1 razorgors and then 2 of these guys. Only played against ITP armies, so I can't talk about how two work with their aura, but without their aura these guys are nice. Str 5 poison attacks is great. Had 1 charge a casket of souls and kill the priest and 1 guard. The othet guard wounded me and died to the auto str5 for wounding me. Good stuff.

I think most my lists will be 2 of these guys.

In my one and only game so far he was useful. The Aura was O.K. I killed one knight and 3 archers(vs. Brets) so it was more of a nice bonus type of thing than a main weapon. His main use was as a flying rank breaker. I got off 2 flank charges with him. He was more effective than the Ghorgon and Razorgors so I will definitely be leaving him in the list.

Anyone found him more useful that the Cygor? The only reason I don't start them in the list is because the Cygor can't be summoned with magic. I plan on summoning the Jabber via Magic though, so if I pull it off tomorrow, I might be able to add to this thread some more

A Flying monster that can cancel ranks is a rare thing indeed. If I were to write a Beastmen list I would take two.

These things piss the hell out of me, but i love them. Every game i play they dont kill crap, and there aura and tongue dont do much. However, usually once a game they somehow have 1 good turn. So far it has made the game for me because I abusing their Terror and Aura. Most cases i never put them in combat just make my enemy pass 2 checks a turn because he is bound to fail right? Usually they dont but once a game they do and i feel happy. Other than that i love them because they captured edges for 5XXpts, which in most cases can easily out point anything tying to out capture me.

I think these things are in no way worth their points, but then again 2-0 with my beast one game with 1, one game with 2 and they gave me the victory late game. I wont know if there good or bad until at least another 3 or 4 games of testing
    Good Luck and have fun!
